Abstract Background Understanding the progression and recovery process of COVID-19 is crucial for guiding public health strategies developing targeted interventions. This longitudinal cohort study aims to elucidate dynamics severity evaluate impact underlying conditions on these transitions, providing critical insights more effective disease management. Methods Data from 4549 patients admitted Seoul National University Boramae Medical Center between February 5th, 2020, October 30th, 2021, were analyzed using a 5-state continuous-time Markov multistate model. The model estimated instantaneous transition rates different levels severity, predicted probabilities state determined hazard ratios associated with comorbidities. Results analysis revealed that most stabilized in their initial state, 72.2% moderate symptoms remaining moderate. Patients hypertension had 67.6% higher risk progressing severe, while those diabetes an 89.9% deteriorating severe critical. Although death low early hospitalization, comorbidities significantly increased likelihood worsening conditions. Conclusion highlights utility models assessing among hospitalized patients. findings indicate are likely recover than experience However, increase outcomes, underscoring importance managing

Background: This systematic review sought to characterize child-to-child and child-to-adult transmission of severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Methods: A was conducted from April 1, 2021, December 15, 2023, estimate secondary attack rates (SARs) infections per index case (case rate) cases up age 20 years. SAR rate were analyzed based on age, setting, country variant prevalence. Meta-analysis the data. Results: Eighty-six studies included, representing 33,674 cases. The total pooled 0.11 (95% CI: 0.07–0.16); 0.05 0.03–0.10) for 0.15 0.07–0.30) transmission. Pooled in households 0.28 0.24–0.34) 0.02 0.01–0.04) schools. Conclusions: role children SARS-CoV-2 is small, particularly work can help inform policies that effectively reduce while minimizing adverse effects children.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on populations worldwide, particularly older adults residing in low - and middle-income countries. Due to these impacts, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) provided extensive support, which affected their operations. Using the social resilience framework, purpose of this study was better understand what strategies NGOs used support vulnerable how they are building back stronger from pandemic. In fall 2022, 26 (virtual) in-depth interviews were conducted with staff volunteers an NGO supporting Uganda. Several key themes emerged including using existing resources importance having multiple sources revenue organizational lessons learned by can be utilized enact policy practice change help strengthen NGOs' resilience. This would allow them continue implementing innovative during times crisis.
