Understanding
the
bioavailability
of
per-
and
polyfluoroalkyl
substances
(PFAS)
in
food
is
essential
for
accurate
human
health
risk
assessment.
Given
rising
incidence
inflammatory
bowel
disease
(IBD),
this
study
aimed
to
investigate
impacts
IBD
on
PFAS
using
mice
models.
The
relative
(RBA)
was
highest
chronic
(64.3–144%),
followed
by
healthy
(60.8–133%)
acute
(41.5–121%),
suggesting
that
enhanced
exposure
risk.
In
vitro
tests
showed
intestinal
micelle
stability
increased
as
a
result
reduced
content
short-chain
fatty
acids,
thus
promoting
bioaccessibility
digestive
fluid
IBD.
Additionally,
pathogenic
decreased
beneficial
bacteria
gut
groups
facilitated
permeability,
enhancing
absorption.
These
together
explained
higher
RBA
However,
remarkably
lower
enzymatic
activities
suggested
severely
impaired
ability
IBD,
which
excretion
from
feces,
lowering
RBA.
Conversely,
might
exacerbate
changing
microbiota
structures.
This
hints
individuals
with
inflammation
have
than
population.
