Abstract The cyberchondria phenomenon presents a significant health concern, yet there remains relative scarcity of research on the formation mechanisms and its longitudinal studies. Based RISP model C‐A‐C framework, this study aimed to examine associations between risk perception, anxiety, online information seeking (OHIS) within context Chinese social media. We used three‐wave survey with 514 participants at one‐month intervals starting September 2023, employing Random Intercept Cross‐Lagged Panel Model (RI‐CLPM) for data analysis. At between‐person level, we solely observed negative anxiety OHIS. within‐person (1) positively bidirectional were noted among three main variables; (2) causal relationships identified perception OHIS, as well OHIS; (3) Health partially mediated relationship OHIS fully T1 T3; (4) multi‐group analyses showed that gender differences in RI‐CLPM significant, while age insignificant. results offer theoretical practical insights practitioners, seekers, media platforms.
