A cross-sectional study was conducted in order to determine the prevalence of Toxocara canis, potential risk factors, and knowledge, attitude, practices Bishoftu, central Ethiopia. Fecal samples were taken from 300 randomly selected dogs different sex, age group, breeds, diarrheal status. Most owners (56.7%; 50.85 62.35) did not deworm their regularly, while 90.67% 86.79 93.71) fed raw animal products. finding most respondents aware zoonotic canine parasites (83.7%; 81.18 89.43) toxocariasis (80.7%; 75.74 84.98). This demonstrates lower awareness about disease. Therefore, this recommends strategic deworming better management, increased control impact on human health.

Abstract Objectives To examine the association between pet ownership and psychosocial outcomes among oldest old in Germany during Covid‐19 pandemic. Methods/Design Data from “Old Age (D80+)” study were used, a large, nationwide representative covering both individuals living at home nursing homes aged 80 years above ( n = 2867 individuals). The telephone interviews conducted May to October 2021. Established tools (e.g., “Short Form of Depression Old Scale”, DIA‐S4) used quantify outcomes. Five groups generated: (1) no ownership, (2) having least one dog (but other pets), (3) cat (4) neither dogs nor cats), (5) two different types pets (in any combination). Results Multiple linear regressions showed that compared without pet, had significantly lower loneliness levels β −0.21, p < 0.01). In fully‐adjusted models, forms not associated with examined. Treats are a prevalent aspect of pet care, frequently given by dog and cat caregivers for varying reasons. However, recommendations reducing or eliminating treat feeding poses common challenge, leading to potential non-adherence surrounding weight management practices. To explore caregivers' perceptions experiences feeding, we conducted five online focus groups with 24 caregivers, recruited via an infographic shared on social media using snowball sampling. NVivo12© was used organize analyze verbatim transcripts inductive thematic analysis. Outcomes illustrated three major themes: 1) the role treats as important tool caregivers; 2) considerations selection provision; 3) need more better information support related treats. Participants emphasized importance managing behaviours, health-related activities, enhancing pet-caregiver relationship. Results suggest that diverse valued applications treats, satisfaction associated treat-giving, perceived lack guidance may present challenges in their pets. Findings highlight opportunities enhance available resources can empower both veterinary professionals make well-informed decisions foster sustainable changes practices overall health. Such improve client compliance recommendations, promote companion animal health well-being while fostering human-animal bond.
