Navigating parental attitudes on childhood vaccination in Jordan: a cross-sectional study

This
study
investigated
parental
attitudes
toward
childhood
vaccination
in
Jordan,
focusing
on
acceptance,
concerns,
and
perceptions.
A
cross-sectional
survey
conducted
from
January
to
February
2024
included
939
parents.
Findings
indicated
that
85.4%
(n
=
802)
of
respondents
received
the
COVID-19
vaccine,
while
only
25%

vaccinated
their
children.
Concerns
regarding
vaccine
safety
efficacy
were
prevalent,
with

Background:
This
study

End of Pandemic Parental Hesitancy Towards Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccination: A Cross-sectional Survey at Two Lebanese Tertiary Hospitals

This
observational
prospective
cross-sectional
study
was
conducted
during
the
last
4
months
of
COVID-19
pandemic
to
determine
whether
parental
hesitancy
vaccinate
their
children
against
had
improved
compared
earlier
studies
in
other
countries
showing
high
levels
hesitancy.
Methods:
Parents
were
surveyed
from
January
until
May
16,
2023,
at
two
tertiary
medical
centers
Beirut,
American
University
Beirut
Medical
Center
(AUBMC)
and
Saint
George
Hospital
(SGHUMC).
Results:
The
enrolled
950
participants,
predominantly
mothers
(79.6%)
aged
30–49
(79%),
highly
educated
parents
(69.8%
62.2%
fathers
university
graduates).
Although
routine
childhood
vaccinations
received
remarkable
acceptance
(98.3%),
there
considerable
towards
pediatric
(56.4%).

9.4%
vaccinated

children.
