Natural and sustainable plant-based antioxidants antimicrobials are highly desirable for improving food quality safety. The present investigation assessed the antimicrobial antioxidant properties of active components from Alkanna tinctoria (herb) roots, also known as Ratanjot root. Two methods were used to extract components: microwave-assisted hot water (MAHW) ethanol air-dried. MAHW yielded 6.29% while 18.27%, suggesting superior root powder (RRP) solubility in over water. showed significantly higher activity than extract. Gas chromatography mass-spec analysis revealed three major phenolic compounds: Butanoic acid, 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-; Arnebin 7, Diisooctylpthalate. color attributes (L*, a*, b*, hab, C*ab) ethanolic extracts significant differences (P < 0.05) all above parameters both types extracts, except yellowness (b*) chroma (C*ab) values. exhibited against 14 bacterial species, with a signifi-cantly inhibitory effect Gram-positive bacteria (Listeria monocytogenes Staphylococcus aureus) Gram-negative (Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium Escherichia coli). minimum concentration (MIC) bactericidal (MBC) 25 mg/ml bacteria, MIC MBC concentrations varied (0.049 - 0.098 0.195 mg/ml) was bactericidal. activities RRP remained stable under broad temperature (37-100°C) pH (2-6) conditions, well during refrigerated storage 30 days. Application at 1% (10 mg/g) 2.5% (25 levels cooked chicken meatball model system prevented lipid oxidation improved sensory retarded microbial growth (4°C) 20 Furthermore, non-toxic when tested sheep erythrocytes did not inhibit probiotics, Lacticaseibacillus casei, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum. In conclusion, study suggests that possesses excellent activities, thus making it suitable preservation.

In an alarming tale of agricultural excess, the relentless overuse chemical fertilizers in modern farming methods have wreaked havoc on once-fertile soil, mercilessly depleting its vital nutrients while inflicting irreparable harm delicate balance surrounding ecosystem. The excessive use such leaves residue products, pollutes environment, upsets agrarian ecosystems, and lowers soil quality. Furthermore, a significant proportion nutrient content, including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, is lost from (50–70%) before being utilized. Nanofertilizers, other hand, nanoparticles to control release nutrients, making them more efficient cost-effective than traditional fertilizers. Nanofertilizers comprise one or plant within where at least 50% particles are smaller 100 nanometers. In recent years, the search for natural plant-based antimicrobial compounds as alternatives to some synthetic food preservatives or biocides has been stimulated by sanitary, environmental, regulatory, and marketing concerns. this context, besides their established antioxidant activity, activity of many plant phenolics deserved increased attention. Indeed, industries processing agricultural plants generate considerable quantities phenolic-rich products by-products, which could be valuable sources molecules. Plant extracts containing volatile (e.g., essential oils) non-volatile molecules can distinguished. oils are outside scope review. This review will thus provide an overview current knowledge regarding promises limits preservation biofilm control on food-contacting surfaces. After a presentation major groups phenolics, spectrum, diversity mechanisms action, most promising reviewed. Since reduction often observed when comparing in vitro situ activities reported limit application, effects composition microstructure matrices unwanted microorganisms present and/or microbial biofilms) discussed. Then, different strategies delivery promote such matrices, encapsulation association with edible coatings packaging materials presented. The possibilities offered polymers increase stability ease use before well get systems controlled release presented Finally, necessity consider combination other factors consistently hurdle technology principles For instance, several authors recently suggested that not only extend shelf-life foods controlling bacterial contamination, but also coexist probiotic lactic acid bacteria enhanced health benefits human.
