Despite their vulnerability to food insecurity, female-headed agrarian households demonstrate remarkable resilience in ensuring household production. This paper utilises the Rasch and Probit models delve into households' severity of insecurity 386 households, drawn from a sample 2118 South Africa's marginalised rural provinces Eastern Cape Limpopo, drawing on General Household Survey Citation2021/Citation2022.

Introduction Household entrepreneurship has a positive significance in increasing farmers’ income, but currently entrepreneurial willingness is insufficient and behavior needs to be further activated. Existing studies have examined the mechanism of more terms individual factors. However, behavioral decisions are result internal external Therefore, we analysed mechanisms influencing from two aspects: psychological perception stability land rights driving role village-level industrial development. Methods Our analysis based on data sample 2356 farmers Jiangsu Province, China, uses mathematical modeling binary logic methods. Results The results show that regression coefficient for 0.573; village development 1.480; interaction term between 0.361. This indicates both promoting effect behavior, moderates impact behavior. Discussion Based study, following implications been drawn: first, it necessary strengthen rights, regulate guide transfer land, concept rights; second, develop local speciality industries, help employment variety forms through channels.

Abstract In South Africa, especially in rural areas, access to essential resources such as water, sanitation, and energy is limited. This issue disproportionately impacts female-headed households, which also face challenges related poverty gender inequality. study examines how water sanitation influence food security these focusing on the role of a mediating factor provinces Limpopo Eastern Cape. Data was collected from 2369 households through 2022 African General Household Survey, analysis conducted using structural equation modelling. Access to safe drinking water remains a global challenge, particularly for developing countries where poverty and service delivery intersect. This is resonant issue country like South Africa with vulnerable groups, such as women, being the most affected when there reduced access. There clear link between lack of access clean water. The main objective this paper was investigate in female headed households. uses data from General Household Survey 2022, conducted by Statistics Africa. A binary logistic regression used arrive at odds poor. findings study indicate that household heads who are African, single, do not pay water, use natural sources have large size likely be poor together their clearly shows challenges need addressed achieve sustainable development goal 6. government needs intentional deliberate addressing plight women having directed policies on reduction

Food security is a pressing global concern, particularly in developing countries such as Tanzania, where rural areas, predominantly inhabited by smallholder farmers, bear the brunt of its adverse effects. This study looks into determinants food among farmers utilising data from agriculture sample census survey 2019/20 conducted National Bureau Statistics (NBS). Employing Non-experimental research design, used probit regression model to estimate key factors influencing security. The results underscore significance irrigation (-0.906, p<0.01), extension services (-0.040, p<0.05), crop storage (-1.473, land ownership (-0.070, and female (-0.909, p<0.01) crucial Tanzania. advocates prioritising community-based for reliable water sources, expanding targeted programs, investing modern storage, ensuring secure tenure, implementing comprehensive seed subsidies, adopting holistic approach soil fertility management. Policymakers are urged support these measures enhance promoting resilience, productivity, sustainability.

The reliance on rainfed agriculture exposes southern Africa to low agricultural productivity and food nutritional insecurity; yet, the region is endowed with vast irrigation potential. Extreme weather events including drought, floods, heatwaves exacerbate existing challenges, underscoring need improve water management as a climate change adaptation strategy. This mixed-methods review followed Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, Analysis (SALSA) framework explore opportunities challenges in by critically analysing drivers constraints of systems Africa. premise understand reasons behind abandonment some areas equipped for irrigation.
