Oak powdery mildew caused by Erysiphe alphitoides (Griffon and Maubl.; U. Braun & S. Takam.) is a common disease in European forests. One of the most susceptible species pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.). Presently, few methods are available to control mildew, e.g., use fungicides (e.g., based on citric acid), antagonistic fungi or bacteria, chemical treatments sulphur, potassium bicarbonate) genetic resistance. In our study, we aimed check effects using chitosan derivatives novel active substances inducing plants’ natural resistance: benzodiathiadiazole (both neutral salt form). 84 seedlings were subjected experiment three treatment variants (plus positive negative controls). The plants treated with inoculated E. alphitoides. Although symptoms appeared all variants, they manifested mainly mycelium form small spots. indicated that highest limitation was achieved applying N-methyl-N-methoxyamide-7-carboxybenzo(1,2,3)thiadiazole (BTHWA). application BTHWA reduced development 88.9% when compared other variants.

Abstract Plant resistance inducers (PRIs) are of increasing interest for disease control in sustainable viticulture, but their efficacy vineyards is still under investigation. We studied the effects four commercial PRIs, natural and microbial origin, on development powdery mildew (PM) grapevine leaves over a 3‐year period. Disease sporulation severity were evaluated following artificial inoculation PRI‐treated with Erysiphe necator conidia at 1, 3, 7 12 days after treatment (DAT). Laminarin (LAM) cos‐oga (COS) most effective reducing both (57.1% 49.5%, respectively) (85.3% 90.2%, severity; reduction PM provided by cerevisane (CER) was lower (27%), that Pythium oligandrum (PYT) intermediate (44.9%). LAM from 1 DAT, while COS PYT more when E . inoculated to DAT. These results open new perspectives how PRIs used as single, preventative interventions performed 3 before infection, depending product used. The effect colonies also suggests broader longer epidemics.

The persistent use of copper-based fungicides to control grapevine downy mildew (GDM) still represents risks both human health and the environment, especially in organic production. This heavy metal can affect wine quality due residues' presence on grape bunches. Implementing sustainable viticultural practices diseases is crucial for industry. work aimed evaluate chitosan effectiveness toward GDM a large scale, over period three years (2019–2021), distinct vineyards with different environmental conditions. Three management strategies were tested: application 0.5% individually; alternation copper; during last year, combination low rate copper, using conventional untreated plants as controls. Over consecutive seasons, treatments effectively reduced McKinney Index leaves bunches under On bunches, alone was less effective than when applied after copper had same effectiveness, combined more standard. In 2020 2021, analysis cooper amount detected berries two cultivars showed that all allowed decrease residue berries. or able reduce this control. scale investigation suggests alternative integrate eventually replace against GDM.
