Small-scale cultivation of irrigated fodder is emerging as a vital production system in mixed farming communities. Efficient water management plays key role enhancing forage production, especially the face changing climate. A field-scale experimental study was conducted Robit Bata kebele, Ethiopia, with following objectives: (1) to examine effects conventional farmers’ irrigation scheduling versus climate-based scheduling; and (2) assess influence water-lifting technologies (manual pulley solar Majipump) on dry matter yield (DMY), productivity (WP), labor (ILP), terms crude protein metabolizable energy (WP.CP WP.ME) Napier grass. The experiment used 10 plots each size 100 m2. Half were treated using while other half scheduling. Monitoring use crop took place over two seasons from November 2020 June 2021. Results showed there an interaction effect (p = 0.019) 0.016) season DMY. highest DMY occurred first Majipump use. affected WP 0.047). Climate-based had higher season, during second season. On average, outperformed pulley, achieving 5 kg m−3 compared pulley’s 4 0.018). Emphasizing seasonal impact, it recommended promote full (climate-based) for maximum WP. Conversely, advocating only deficit advised due scarcity sustainability concerns. Statistical parity lower supports this recommendation, addressing challenge optimizing context climate ensuring sustainable smallholder agriculture practices. Therefore, implementing appropriate alongside efficient holds potential enhance bolster livelihoods. Future research should explore comparative benefits crops overall advantages investing vegetables.
