Physical exercise has an activating effect on platelet function that differs between trained and untrained subjects, depending the type of training status. In humans, soluble P-selectin (sP-sel) platelet-derived extracellular vesicles (PEVs) are considered reliable markers

The response to exercise following a rest period may vary among horse breeds based on the importance of hematological and hematochemical profiles athletic horses. Ten Standardbred ten Italian Saddlebred mares were subjected 4-week training program after seasonal rest, parameters (red blood cells—RBCs; hemoglobin—Hb; hematocrit—Hct; platelets—PLTs; platelet aggregation—AG; aggregation slope—Slope; fibrinogen—Fb), as well Albumin (Alb) non-esterified fatty acids (NEFAs), analyzed. Blood samples obtained each week during simulated performed at T0 T4 (T0pre-T0post; T1, T2, T3, T4pre-T4post). A two-way ANOVA revealed an increase in all assessed post vs. pre (p < 0.01) decrease PLTs both breeds. significant effect breed was observed, with higher values for RBCs Hb time point 0.001); Hct post, post; NEFAs 0.001) compared Positive correlations identified RBCs, Hb, Hct, PLTs, Alb, between AG Slope Negative horses comparable reaction observed rest.
