The term serotonin syndrome (SS) is a potentially life-threatening devastating condition triggered by the excessive accumulation of serotonin, often due to an overdose or concurrent use multiple serotonergic drugs. Lavandula angustifolia (lavender), known plant from Lamiaceae family, very rich in essential oils, minerals, and tannins. This study aimed elucidate detrimental effects SS on brain evaluate neuroprotective potential L. oil. Male rats were randomly divided into following groups: control (Group 1); angustifolia-treated 2); ondansetron-treated high-dose 3); sertraline-treated 4); low-dose ondansetron + 5); 6); sertraline 7); 8). Neurotransmitter levels, dopamine metabolites, expressed cytokines quantified. Additionally, histological assessment hippocampus was performed. results revealed significant disruptions neurotransmitter amino acid levels within across treated groups. Notably, group presented pronounced increases 5-HIAA, proinflammatory cytokines, resulting neurotoxicity alterations hippocampus. Conversely, treatment with significantly attenuated these neurotoxic effects. findings suggest that confers neuroprotection against deleterious SS, particularly counteracting impact combined 5-HT3 receptor antagonists reuptake inhibitors These highlight as natural therapeutic agent for mitigating SS-induced neurotoxicity.

The increasing occurrence of chronic metabolic diseases (CMDs) presents a substantial public health challenge worldwide, necessitating the development pioneering therapeutic approaches. Flavonoids, which are naturally occurring compounds, exert broad spectrum biological activities, encompassing their anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and antioxidant properties, among others. Though they have potential role in treating CMDs, face challenges extraction purification, poor gastrointestinal absorption, low solubility, rapid metabolism, impede clinical applicability. Nanotherapeutics has been receiving significant attention as it aids resolving these issues. Hence, purpose this chapter is to shed light on advances different nanoengineered formulations flavonoids. commences with an outline diseases, emphasizing prevalence pressing need for innovative therapeutics strategies address burden. Following this, flavonoids conditions discussed. Moreover, also elucidates nanoengineering accomplishing efficient flavonoid delivery, particular emphasis versatile nanoformulations, such liposomes, solid lipid nanoparticles, phytosomes. Next, we discuss optimization techniques, surface modification enhance targeting stability, controlled release approaches sustained effects, synergistic outcomes. enhancement bioavailability stability addressed, overcome barriers, targeted delivery site-specific action, methods prevent degradation. Subsequent sections elucidate managing focusing obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders. mechanisms action impact systems efficacy highlighted, providing valuable insights. It highlights involved applicability discusses issues."

Inflammation and oxidative stress are the main pathogenetic pathways involved in development of several chronic degenerative diseases. Our study is aimed at assessing antioxidant anti-inflammatory activity hydroalcoholic extracts obtained from wheat its derivatives. The content total phenolic flavonoid compounds were carried out by ABTS DPPH assays. ability to promote microglia polarization towards an phenotype was evaluated analyzing increased expression markers real-time qPCR immunofluorescence Antioxidant all C. elegans ROS levels enzymes GST-4 SOD-3 fluorescence experiments. key genes innate immune response resistance pathways-daf-16, sek-1, pmk-1-was qPCR. Wheat showed polarize cells phenotype, even after addition LPS.
