Atherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the accumulation of lipids and immune cells within arterial walls, remains leading cause cardiovascular morbidity mortality worldwide. Oxidative stress inflammation are central to its pathogenesis, driving endothelial dysfunction, foam cell formation, plaque instability. Emerging evidence highlights potential bioactive compounds with antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties mitigate these processes promote vascular health. This review explores mechanisms through which compounds-such as polyphenols, carotenoids, flavonoids, omega-3 fatty acids, coenzyme Q10, other natural compounds-modulate oxidative in atherosclerosis. It examines their effects on key molecular pathways, including inhibition reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, suppression nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), modulation cytokines. By integrating current knowledge, this underscores therapeutic dietary supplemental complementary strategies for managing atherosclerosis, paving way future research clinical applications.

Aim: To evaluate the histological effects of flavonoid and saponin fractions from Cyperus esculentus (tiger nuts) Phoenix dactylifera (date fruits) on prostate gland Wistar rats exposed to aluminum chloride, focusing their potential protective properties against aluminum-induced toxicity. Study Design: A randomized experimental study involving twenty-five male divided into five groups. Groups were treated with normal saline (control), different combinations extracts for 28 days. Place Duration: Conducted at animal breeding facility College Medical Sciences, University Calabar, over a month. Methods: Male acclimatized seven days, then assigned treatment Flavonoids saponins extracted dactylifera. The groups received oral administration chloride once daily Prostate tissues collected post-treatment processed hematoxylin eosin (H&E) evaluation. Results: Histological analysis showed that control group had healthy architecture, while chloride-treated presented significant dysplastic changes typical benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Treatment resulted in moderate improvements. combination both exhibited enhanced effects, stabilizing architecture preventing severe stromal hyperplasia. Conclusion: Flavonoid demonstrate chloride-induced histopathological rats, suggesting dietary interventions mitigate environmental toxin impacts health. Further investigation mechanisms broader applications is warranted.

This study investigates the immunomodulatory effects of various aqueous plant extracts on immune cells and cytokine production. In vitro, several extracts, including holy basil (Ocimum sanctum), patawali (Tinospora crispa), Indian borage (Plectranthus amboinicus L.), significantly increased CD3+ T-cell populations, while soap pod (Acacia concinna), garlic (Allium sativum neem (Azadirachta indica) also boosted CD45RA+ B-cells. vivo, had subtle spleen morphology Peyer's Patches, with milk bush (Euphorbia tirucalli L.) enhancing responses, stimulated Additionally, we observed that Neem suppressed B-cell populations. Furthermore, analysis showed reduced IL-2, pod, basil, TNF-alpha levels. Soap elevated IL-10 IL-17A, indicating both anti-inflammatory pro-inflammatory signaling, induced an increase in IL-4. conclusion, Thai medicinal plants show strong potential as immunostimulants immunosuppressants. They can enhance lymphocyte proliferation, particularly T-cells, modulate Their play a key role regulating Th1, Th2, Th17 Thus, these could serve natural agents alternative medicines for boosting or modulating function.
