Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is one of the most common autoimmune diseases. Although HT inextricably linked to oxidative stress, there have been no studies assessing salivary redox homeostasis or gland function in patients with HT. This study first compare antioxidant defense and stress biomarkers non-stimulated (NWS) stimulated (SWS) whole saliva plasma/erythrocytes compared controls. The included 45 women euthyreosis period as well an age- gender-matched control group. We showed that NWS secretion was significantly lower healthy controls, similar amylase activity SWS. Catalase peroxidase activities were considerably higher SWS patients, while concentrations reduced glutathione uric acid comparison subjects. Total potential lower, total oxidant status level oxidation products proteins (advanced glycation end products, advanced protein products) lipids (malondialdehyde, lipid hydroperoxides) NWS, plasma patients. In conclusion, both glands euthyreosis, ability maintain hindered. we observed damage lipids; thus, some may present a diagnostic value.

The results of recent studies indicate the key role nitrosative stress and protein oxidative damage in development morbid obesity. Nevertheless, effect bariatric surgery on oxidation/glycation nitrosative/nitrative is not yet known. This first study evaluating glycoxidation morbidly obese patients before after (one, three, six twelve months) laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. included 50 women with obesity as well age- gender-matched healthy controls. We demonstrated significant increases serum myeloperoxidase, plasma glycooxidative products (dityrosine, kynurenine, N-formyl-kynurenine, amyloid, Amadori products, glycophore), (ischemia modified albumin) (nitric oxide, peroxy-nitrite, S-nitrosothiols nitro-tyrosine) subjects compared to lean controls, whereas tryptophan total thiols were statistically decreased. Bariatric generally reduces abnormalities proteins stress. Noteworthily, metabolic syndrome (MS+), we showed no differences most redox biomarkers, without MS (MS-). However, two markers: able differentiate MS+ MS- high specificity sensitivity: peroxy-nitrite (>70%) (>60%). Further are required confirm diagnostic usefulness such biomarkers.

Given its intrinsic nature, gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) is an attractive source for the discovery of novel biomarkers periodontal diseases. GCF contains antimicrobial peptides and small proteins which could play a role in specific immune-inflammatory responses to guarantee healthy status prevent Presently, several proteomics studies have been performed leading increased coverage proteome, however fewer efforts done explore natural peptides. To fill such gap, this review provides overview mass spectrometric platforms experimental designs aimed at peptidome profiling, including our own data experiences gathered from over years matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization/time flight spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) based approach field. These tools might be useful capturing snapshots containing diagnostic clinical information on individual population scale, may used as code not only diagnosis nature or stage inflammatory process disease, but more importantly, prognosis, still unmet medical need. As matter fact, current peptidomics investigations suffer lack standardized procedures, posing serious problem interpretation. Descriptions address concerns will highlighted.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the most commonly occurring diseases within western dietary patterns. Usually untreated, it may lead to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), steatohepatitis (NASH), and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Besides its severe aftermath, up now, there no known therapeutic approach this in everyday clinical practice. Most NAFLD patients are encouraged do physical activities or diet change remain without pharmacological treatment. In study, we present phloroglucinol (PHG) as a novel promising compound PHG significantly increased level enzymatic nonenzymatic antioxidants both palmitate hydrogen peroxide‐induced oxidative stress models. Strengthened antioxidative defense reduced oxidative/nitrosative damage cell proteins, lipids, carbohydrates. Furthermore, treatment hepatic steatosis; lowered inflammatory markers, such NF‐ κ B HIF‐1 α ; inhibited apoptosis. Moreover, had more comprehensive effect than other used antioxidants: N‐acetylcysteine (NAC) ‐lipoic acid (ALA), suggesting usability. Therefore, our paper supports benefits natural compounds therapeutical NAFLD.
