Due to the recent advances in domain of smart agriculture as a result integrating traditional and latest information technologies including Internet Things (IoT), cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), there is an urgent need address security-related issues challenges this field. In article, we propose integration lightweight cryptography techniques into IoT ecosystem for meet requirements resource-constrained devices. Moreover, investigate adoption encryption protocol, namely, Expeditious Cipher (X-cipher), create secure channel between sensing layer broker Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol well its subscribers. Our case study focuses on irrigation systems, MQTT deployed application messaging these systems. Smart strives decrease misuse natural resources by enhancing efficiency agricultural irrigation. This utilized eliminate main security threat precision protecting sensors’ published data from eavesdropping theft, unauthorized changes sensitive that can negatively impact crops’ development. addition, protects decisions made analytics (DA) entity regarding time quantity water returned actuators any alteration. Performance evaluation our chosen revealed improvement terms power consumption, execution time, required memory usage when compared with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). selected outperforms PRESENT throughput usage.
