Detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is imperative in healthcare, industrial safety, and environmental monitoring due to their potential harm human health the environment. Addressing challenges VOC detection, research has focused on creating sensors with rapid response high selectivity, notably through surface functionalization of metal semiconductors. Metal semiconductors offer advantages over standard oxide (MOS), demonstrating superior sensitivity selectivity even at low temperatures concentrations. Notably, conductive particle-polymer hybrids conjugated polymers as show promise for VOCs detection. This review comprehensively explores semiconductors, covering principles, mechanisms governing gas sensing behavior pivotal role enhancing performance. Additionally, various options, such nanoparticles, nanostructures, ligands, are discussed.

The presence of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene compounds (BTEX) in the breathing air outside inside buildings is one most significant problems related to human health today. This study was performed determine concentration BTEX pollutants indoor environments. PhoCheck used detect compounds. In this study, (BTEX pollutant) assessed four spaces, including restaurants, laundries, hair salons, photocopying centers. results showed that average all searched higher than recommended limit Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). carcinogenic risk assessment by benzene ethylbenzene show 2153 × 10-4 913 10-5 respectively. HQ values for toluene were 1.397 0.505, respectively, indicating exposure alone may have adverse effects on health, while has no effects. hazard index (HI) one. An HI value means two contaminants we breathe health. As a result, necessary control measures should be taken prevent unfavorable these pollutants.

Indoor air pollution constitutes a public health problem due to the long time that individuals spend in enclosed spaces every day. The present study aims investigate level of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) indoor households Senegal, and assess risks related residents’ exposure. Of 17 VOCs identified, 16 were detected Medina accommodations versus 14 Darou Khoudoss. Toluene levels reached 70.9 μg/m3 18.5 Khoudoss, which highest compared other compounds. sum Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, o-Xylene, 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene concentrations two times higher (79.57 µg/m3 37.1 µg/m3). Furthermore, found at living rooms spaces. benzene acetone estimated 13.6 8.4 µg/m3, respectively, where incense was burnt daily, while formaldehyde observed using seasonally (6.8 As regards associated with exposure residents, lifetime cancer all above WHO tolerable limit (10−5–10−6). Exposure (8.5 µg/m3) risk leukemia (51.3 per million people exposed) nasopharyngeal (600 (4.23 Medina.

Abstract Indoor air pollution is a recognized emerging threat, claiming millions of lives annually. People are constantly exposed to ambient and indoor pollution. The latest research shows that people in developed countries spend up 90% their time indoors almost 70% at home. Although impaired IAQ represents significant health risk, it affects differently, specific populations more vulnerable: children, the elderly, with respiratory illnesses sensitive these environmental risks. Despite rather extensive on IAQ, most current understanding about subject, which includes sources, indoor–outdoor relationships, ventilation/filtration, still quite limited, mainly because quality monitoring EU primarily focused regulatory requirements lacking for environments. Therefore, EDIAQI project aims improve guidelines awareness advancing Europe beyond by allowing user‐friendly access information exposures, related risk factors. solution proposed consists conducting characterization sources routes exposure dispersion chemical, biological, multiple cities EU. will deploy cost‐effective/user‐friendly solutions create new knowledge routes, multipollutant body burdens. brings together 18 organizations from 11 different European provide interdisciplinary skills expertise various fields, including science technology, medicine, toxicology, as well policy design public engagement.

Human health is significantly impacted by the quality of air in living areas. Numerous factors, such as kind particle, clean delivery rate, room geometry, surface features, and thermal plume produced people or other equipment, all have an impact on indoor particle movement. This work uses computational fluid dynamics to quantitatively examine performance a portable purifier that routinely used improve room. The volumetric flow diameter, placement cleaner device were considered assessment transport characteristics. temperature, velocity, age distribution computed three-dimensional simulations, effectiveness cleaning (ACD) eliminating contaminants was then investigated. Clean rate (CADR), collection efficiency, concentration values also for every case taken into consideration. It found CADR efficiency larger particles are about 2–7% better than those smaller particles. ACD with different operating conditions range 71% 87%. Better parameters observed higher rates.
