Oral infection is a common clinical symptom. While antibiotics are widely employed as the primary treatment for oral diseases, emergence of drug-resistant bacteria has necessitated exploration alternative therapeutic approaches. One such modality antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), which utilizes light and photosensitizers. Indeed, aPDT been used alone or in combination with other options dealing periodontal disease elimination biofilms from bacterial community to achieve bone formation and/or tissue regeneration. In this review article, addition factors affecting efficacy aPDT, various photosensitizers, latest technology perspectives on discussed detail. More importantly, article emphasizes novel design applications well synergistic effects chemical biomolecules complete eradication even enhance biological performance tissues surrounding treated area.

Objectives: This split-mouth randomized controlled clinical trial aimed to evaluate the efficacy of diode laser therapy as an adjunct scaling and root planning (SRP) in management patients with stage II grade A periodontitis. Methods: Thirty participants were randomly assigned receive either SRP alone (control group) or application (study on contralateral side. Clinical parameters (plaque index, gingival probing depth, attachment level) microbiological markers; Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (A actinomycetemcomitans), Porphyromonas gingivalis (P gingivalis), Fusobacterium nucleatum (F nucleatum) evaluated at baseline 4, 8, 12 weeks post-treatment. Results: Both groups reported significant improvements all over follow-up period. The study group a significantly higher reduction depth than SRP-alone group. Microbiological evaluation revealed greater reductions P F. levels later time points, whereas no alterations observed for actinomycetemcomitans. Conclusions: Our results suggest that adjunctive use may improve findings nonsurgical periodontal

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major risk factor for the development of periodontal disease and aggravates severity conditions. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are known to degrade ligament attachment bone matrix proteins. Increased expression CD147 associated with increased synthesis several MMPs, being modulator MMP expression, including that MMP-14. The purpose this study was quantify compare expressions MMP-14 in gingival tissues patients without type 2 diabetes mellitus. Material Methods: In histological study, we included 33 subjects disease: 16 DM (test group) 17 systemically healthy (control group). Tissue fragments were processed using an immunohistochemistry technique determine immunoreactivity (IR) intensity CD147. Results: group periodontitis, 56.2% showed weak positive (+), while 43.8% had intensely (+++) Statistically significant differences between test control groups (p = 0.004, p 0.883, 0.002) found membranous IR moderate (++) CD 147, (+++). 0.001, 0.002, 0.003) Conclusions: significantly higher 147 demonstrates role these biomarkers pathology patients. Chronic periodontitis is a ubiquitous inflammatory disease in dental healthcare that challenging to treat due its impact on bone and tooth loss. Conventional mechanical debridement has been eliminating complex subgingival biofilms. Hence, adjunctive approaches like low-level laser antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (A-PDT) utilising methylene blue (MB) have emerging recent times. This review evaluates the latest research use of MB-mediated A-PDT decrease microbial count enhance clinical results chronic periodontitis. Studies shown interaction between light MB generates phototoxic effect thereby, pathogenic bacteria within periodontal pockets. Moreover, numerous trials using can reduce probing depths, improve attachment levels, bleeding during comparison traditional treatment approaches. There has been a massive eruption innovations technologies to assist periodontal diseases over past 30 years. The opened new horizons possibilities that can enhance treatments. However, their is not always based validated concepts evidence-based protocols. Hence, aims describe, summarize, assess available evidence current laser-assisted protocols periodontitis. Four distinct approaches are addressed: (1) for removal subgingival calculus, (2) photodynamic therapy/photoactivated disinfection, (3) photobiomodulation therapy, (4) high-power lasers. Based studies guidelines recommendations, exhibits several such as increased disinfection pockets junctional epithelium connective tissue, calculus biofilm, bactericidal effect pathogens. Moreover, therapy seems play positive role management inflammatory process Although promising, periodontitis needs be further investigated.

Background and Objectives: This paper aims to assess the role of laser therapy in periodontitis through an innovative approach involving computational prediction advanced modeling performed network analysis (Gaussian graphical models—GGMs) structural equations (SEM). Materials Methods: Forty patients, exhibiting periodontal pockets with a minimum depth 5 mm, were randomly divided into two groups: control group group. Four specific indicators measured for each tooth, namely pocket (PPD), clinical attachment level (CAL), bleeding on probing (BOP), plaque index (PI), mean six values was recorded at five time markers (baseline, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 4 years). The assessment algorithm included enrollment, measurements, differential non-surgical treatment, according allocation. Scaling, root planing, chlorhexidine 1% conducted group, scaling, planing erbium, chromium:yttrium-scandium-gallium-garnet (Er,CR:YSGG) Results: main results highlight that addition treatment scaling led notable improvements, decreasing PPD values, reducing BOP scores, increasing CAL. Conclusions: Notable relationships between considered highlighted by both GGMs SEM, thus confirming their suitability as proxies success treatment.
