An increase in post-COVID patients with late sequelae of acute COVID-19 infection is emerging as an ongoing challenge for physicians and healthcare professionals. Since the beginning pandemic, it has rapidly become evident that not limited to respiratory tract but several organs, including cardiovascular system, can be affected. Moreover, a significant proportion (ranging from about 10 up 50%) former COVID-19, cardiopulmonary symptoms such dyspnea, palpitations, restricted physical capacity, cardiac arrhythmias persist weeks months after SARS-CoV-2 infection. The spectrum COVID-19-associated rather wide, most likely due various pathomechanisms. In this article, prevalence underlying pathologies are reviewed, direct myocardial injury abnormal consequences impact on electric instability. hyperinflammatory reaction host immune system specifically considered. distinct rhythm disorders occurring discussed regard their clinical management.

SARS-CoV-2 vaccination offered the opportunity to emerge from pandemic and, thereby, worldwide health, social, and economic disasters. However, in addition efficacy, safety is an important issue for any vaccine. The mRNA-based vaccine platform considered be safe, but side effects are being reported more frequently as people around world become treated. Myopericarditis major, not only cardiovascular complication of this vaccine; hence it underestimate other effects. We report a case series patients affected by cardiac arrhythmias post-mRNA our clinical practice literature. Reviewing official vigilance database, we found that heart rhythm disorders after COVID uncommon deserve scientific attention. Since related effect, questions arose about whether these vaccines could affect conduction. Although risk–benefit ratio clearly favor vaccination, negligible issue, there red flags literature risk post-vaccination malignant some predisposed patients. In light findings, reviewed potential molecular pathways impact electrophysiology cause disorders.

Patients with a history of cardiovascular disease (CVD) who contract coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) tend to have worse prognosis and more severe side effects. COVID-19 vaccines, which are intended prevent COVID-19, may also potentially reduce the severity complications (including sequelae) especially in patients CVD. However, there been reports effects from vaccines various brands types. The purpose this study is review benefits harms relation In thorough most current evidence on we present information about characteristics complications. Most focuses myocarditis or pericarditis, strongly associated mRNA predominantly occur young males within days receiving second dose. Meanwhile, post-vaccination myocardial infarction common older males, first dose adenoviral vector appears play greater role complication. This guide us formulating alternative options implementing targeted surveillance. Gaining knowledge potential will improve our ability make informed decisions judgments balance these factors.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) has been described in COVID-19 patients. Recently, some case reports and US pharmacovigilance analyses AF onset as a rare adverse event following vaccination. The possible correlation is unclear. We systematically analyzed the of related to vaccines collected European database, EudraVigilance (EV), from 2020 November 2022. carried out descriptive disproportionality analyses. Moreover, we performed sensitivity analysis, excluding describing other alternative causes (pericarditis, myocarditis, COVID-19, or drugs that may cause/exacerbate AF). Overall, retrieved 6226 reports, which represented only 0.3% all those EV during our study period. mainly referred adults (in particular, >65 years old), with an equal distribution sex. Reports were tozinameran (54.04%), elasomeran (28.3%), ChAdOx1-S (14.32%). reported required patient hospitalization 35% cases resulted life-threatening condition 10% cases. duration (when reported) was highly variable, but majority events had short (moda = 24 h). Although increased frequency reporting mRNA emerges study, investigations are investigate between vaccination occurrence.

Publications regarding cardiac arrhythmias associated with the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) focus primarily on high prevalence and symptoms of this complication. We have not found any studies specific treatment SARS-CoV2, since a standard therapeutic approach is probably implied. This observation describes series cases various that occurred against background acute COVID-19 were treated anti-inflammatory, but antiarrhythmic drugs. The are united by occurrence SARS-CoV-2 infection, connection relapses inflammation symptoms, as well effectiveness therapy main classes anti-inflammatory A narrative review literature provides rationale for inflammatory theory sets stage discussion about how to integrate differentially drugs into regimen such patients.
