Dedifferentiated Leiomyosarcoma of the Uterine Corpus with Heterologous Component: Clinicopathological Analysis of Five Consecutive Cases from a Single Institution and Comprehensive Literature Review

Dedifferentiation
is
a
very
rare
phenomenon
in
uterine
leiomyosarcoma
(LMS).
The
aim
of
this
study
was
to
comprehensively
analyze
the
clinicopathological
characteristics
dedifferentiated
LMS
(DDLMS).
We
reviewed
electronic
medical
records
and
pathology
slides
from
five
patients
with
DDLMS
performed
immunostaining.
mean
age
56
years.
Two
presented
abdominal
discomfort,
while
three
cases
tumors
were
detected
on
routine
examination.
size
17.0
cm.
Four
underwent
hysterectomy.
initial
stages
distributed
as
IB
(2/5),
IIIC
IVC
(1/5).
Post-operative
concurrent
chemoradiation
therapy,
radiation
chemotherapy
administered
one,
two
patients,
respectively.
Despite
post-operative
treatment,
developed
metastatic
recurrences
pelvic
organs.
Recurrence-free
survival
time
ranged
between
4
30
months.
Histologically,
differentiated
areas
demonstrated
classic
morphology
malignant
smooth
muscle
differentiation,
whereas
resembled
undifferentiated
pleomorphic
sarcoma
characterized
by
large
tumor
cells
admixed
haphazardly
arranged
atypical
marked
nuclear
pleomorphism.
All
also
exhibited
heterologous
components,
including
chondrosarcoma
(CSA;
3/5)
rhabdomyosarcoma
(2/5).
In
cases,
components
initially
primary
tumors.
did
not
exhibit
any
or
components.
Instead,
more
than
half
recurrent
consisted

Background/Aim:
Distinguishing
ovarian
metastasis
of
usual-type
endocervical
adenocarcinoma
(UEA)
from
primary
tumors
is
often
challenging
because
several
overlapping
features.
This
study
aimed
to
investigate
the
clinicopathological
characteristics
and
outcomes
patients
with
metastatic
UEA.
Patients

Background/Aim:
Lymphangioleiomyomatosis
(LAM)
belongs
to
the
perivascular
epithelioid
cell
tumor
(PEComa)
family.
The
relationship
between
LAM
and
tuberous
sclerosis
complex
(TSC)
is
of
particular
concern
in
a
subset
women
with
clinically
occult
involving
pelvic
lymph
nodes.
This
study
aimed
investigate
clinicopathological
features
incidental
nodal
detected
during
surgical
staging
gynecological
tumors.
Patients
Methods:
During

years,
we
identified
17
patients
that

incidentally
surgery
for
neoplastic
lesions.
