Vascular calcification severely disrupts cardiovascular hemodynamics, leading to high rates of morbidity and mortality. Despite their clinical impact, the development effective treatments remains limited, underscoring an urgent need for efficient reliable drug screening methods. smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are known play a central role in driving process, undergoing osteogenic transition response pathological conditions. To mimic this we developed cyclic stretching device that replicates physiological mechanical stresses experienced by VSMCs during arterial pulsation. This dramatically accelerates VSMCs, reducing phenotypic switching from 13 days under static conditions just 4 h. Using device, screened 20 herbal extracts anticalcification properties identifiedSalvia miltiorrhizaas candidate with therapeutic potential inhibits VSMC transdifferentiation vitro. The efficacy ofSalvia miltiorrhizawas further validated vitamin D-induced rat model calcification, highlighting its translational potential. platform provides rapid physiologically relevant method evaluating antivascular therapies, significantly improving efficiency discovery translation.
