Numerous standardized methods for evaluating antioxidant capacity are available, some of the most used in this regard employ stable free radicals, like 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrilhydrazyl radical (DPPH·) or 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid cation (ABTS·+). However, challenges can arise taking correct and reproducible measurements due to well-known unspecific reactivity these radicals. In pursuit improving expanding such methods, work is proposed a highly intense colored zwitterionic derivative DPPH· radical, as replacement ABTS·+ derivatives. A discussion comparison recognized presented, demonstrating very good potential non-radical compound.
