Objective : to determine the sensitivity and specificity of method determining concentration immunoglobulin free light chains (FLCs) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diagnosis differential multiple sclerosis (MS). Material methods . 80 patients participated study. The main group consisted 54 diagnosed with MS according 2017 McDonald criteria. comparison (n=26) comprised other diseases nervous system. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used FLCs (kappa- lambda-chains) CSF. Results In MS, an increase kappa-chains (к-FLCs) CSF found compared (p<0.001). With κ-FLCs, a decrease for observed. к-FLCs cut-off value 0.17 μg/ml had 68.5 % 92.3 %. 0.22 59.3 100 concentrations lambda-FLCs comparison, did not differ significantly (p=0.1). Conclusion results obtained indicate patients. This biomarker showed high this pathology. However, further development optimal thresholds is required clarify diagnostic

Background: High-quality epidemiologic data worldwide are needed to improve our understanding of disease risk, support health policy meet the diverse needs people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and advocacy efforts. Objectives: The Atlas MS is an open-source global compendium regarding epidemiology availability resources for reported at country, regional levels. Methods: Country representatives their sources via survey between September 2019 March 2020, covering prevalence incidence in males, females children, age type diagnosis. Regional analyses comparisons 2013 were conducted. Results: A total 2.8 million estimated live (35.9 per 100,000 population). has increased every world region since but gaps estimates persist. pooled rate across 75 reporting countries 2.1 persons/year, mean diagnosis 32 years. Females twice as likely males. Conclusions: risen 2013, good surveillance not universal. Action by stakeholders close knowledge gaps.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS) characterized by destruction myelin sheath structure. The loss leads to damage neuron’s axon and cell body, which identified as brain lesions on magnetic resonance image (MRI). pathogenesis MS remains largely unknown. However, immune mechanisms, especially those linked aberrant lymphocyte activity, are mainly responsible for neuronal damage. Th1 Th17 populations lymphocytes were primarily associated with pathogenesis. These essential differentiation encephalitogenic CD8 + T crossing blood barrier targeting in CNS. B-lymphocytes could also contribute producing anti-myelin basic protein antibodies. In later studies, function Treg Th9 cells was contributing MS. This review summarizes count lymphocyte, contributions these mechanisms Additionally, we have outlined novel therapeutics aimed amend or counts lymphocytes.

Objectives: To investigate the clinico-epidemiological characteristics of multiple sclerosis (MS) in southern region Republic Azerbaijan, which has a population 930,601. Methods: This prospective, single-center, longitudinal study was conducted from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2022. MS patients this underwent examination and treatment under State Program. During period, 123 individuals visited Neurological Center, 104 confirmed cases were included digital database. Age-standardized incidence prevalence rates per 100,000 calculated using world European standards. Data analysis performed IBM SPSS Statistics 27. Results: The mean diagnostic age 36.31±6.93 years, higher than countrywide average 34.9 years. delay 7.01 significantly longer national 5.2 Regional 10.96/100,000, with urban but no significant sex difference. 10-years 0.94±0.32/100,000. Compared neighboring regions, such as Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province Turkiye, area is lower. Although are below levels, they exceed those some Asian countries. Conclusion: first on epidemiology Southern Azerbaijan. findings underscore need for public awareness campaigns enhanced training healthcare professionals, particularly primary care, facilitate early symptom detection reduce delays. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that mediates neuropsychological functions of the central nervous system (CNS). Recent studies have shown modulatory effect dopamine on cells innate and adaptive immune systems, including Th17 cells, which play critical role in inflammatory diseases CNS. This article reviews literature data regulation neuroinflammation multiple sclerosis (MS). The influence dopaminergic receptor targeting experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) MS pathogenesis, as well therapeutic potential drugs add-on pathogenetic therapy MS, discussed.

Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive demyelinating and degenerative disease of the CNS, which highly variable geographically. The objectives are to establish comprehensive nationwide MS epidemiological data compare it with similar studies conducted in regional international communities. To best our knowledge, this first study Iraq. Methods This retrospective including 4355 cases from 10 officially authorized clinics Iraq January 2000 December 2018. All were diagnosed according McDonald's criteria 2010, new patients' records reviewed by scientific committee. Results Our found that 68.51% females female-to-male ratio 2.18:1 4.07% patients before they reached 18 years age. mean age was 32.3 ± 9.8. prevalence be 11.73/100,000; 16.2/100,000 among 7.3/100,000 males. incidence 0.05 year 1.5 2017. Initial symptoms visual 32.06%, motor 28.11%, 25.58% sensory symptoms, 89.97% clinical form relapsing/remitting (RRMS) 81.65% on first-line treatment. Meanwhile, 66.97% within weeks or months symptom onset. Summer had most frequencies regarding birth season. Conclusions has significantly increased Iraq, while low compared neighboring countries. RRMS common showed highest frequency presenting symptoms.
