Altered brain connectivity and atypical neural oscillations have been observed in autism, yet their relationship with autistic traits nonclinical populations remains underexplored. Here, we employ electroencephalography to examine functional connectivity, oscillatory power, broadband aperiodic activity during a dynamic facial emotion processing task 101 typically developing children aged 4 12 years. We investigate associations between these electrophysiological measures of dynamics as assessed by the Social Responsiveness Scale, 2nd Edition (SRS-2). Our results revealed that increased processing-related across theta (4 7 Hz) beta (13 30 frequencies correlated positively higher SRS-2 scores, predominantly right-lateralized (theta) bilateral (beta) cortical networks. Additionally, steeper 1/f-like slope (spectral exponent) fronto-central electrodes was associated scores. Greater aperiodic-adjusted alpha power further both scores slopes. These findings underscore important links children. Future work could extend assess electroencephalography-derived markers potential mechanisms underlying behavioral difficulties autism.

Introduction Electrical stimulation (ES), including transcranial electrical (tES) and transcutaneous vagus nerve (tVNS), has shown potential for cognitive enhancement in military contexts. Various types of ES, such as direct current (tDCS) alternating (tACS), modulate neuronal membrane potentials cortical excitability, potentially improving functions relevant to training operations. Methods This systematic review updates previous findings by examining studies published between 2019 2024 that investigated effects on performance personnel tasks. We focused whether the addressed key questions about generalizability lab tasks, frequency intensity adverse effects, impact repeated ES administration, ethical regulatory considerations its use vulnerable populations. Inhibitory control, as an essential cognitive ability, affects the development of higher functions. Rhythmic perceptual stimulation has been used to improve abilities. It is unclear, however, whether it can be inhibitory control. This study Go/NoGo task and Stroop assess various levels control using rhythmic audio-visual stimuli stimulus mode. Sixty subjects were randomly divided into three groups receive 6 Hz, 10 white noise for 30 min. Two tasks completed by each subject both before after stimulus. Before task, closed-eye resting EEG data collected. The results showed no differences in behavioral measures among groups. While Hz reduced conflict effect only improved amplitude N2 component decreased score. Although did not enhance response inhibition, inhibition.

Abstract Concurrent verbal working memory task can eliminate the color-word Stroop effect. Previous research, based on specific and limited resources, suggested that disappearance of conflict effect was due to information preempting resources for distractors. However, it remains unclear which particular stage processing is influenced by loads. In this study, electroencephalography (EEG) recordings with event-related potential (ERP) analyses, time-frequency multivariate pattern analyses (MVPA), representational similarity (RSA) were applied provide an in-depth investigation aforementioned issue. Subjects required complete single (the classical manual task) dual Sternberg combined task), respectively. Behaviorally, results indicated eliminated in dual-task condition. The EEG showed concurrent did not modulate P1, N450, alpha bands. modulated sustained (SP), late theta (740-820 ms), beta (920-1040 ms) power, showing no difference between congruent incongruent trials condition but significant single-task Importantly, RSA revealed neural activation similar response interaction pattern. Abstract The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence high-definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS) on finger motor skill acquisition. Thirty-one healthy adult males were randomly assigned one three groups: online HD-tDCS (administered during learning), offline (delivered before and a sham group. Participants engaged in visual isometric pinch task for consecutive days. Overall learning speed–accuracy tradeoff function used efficacy tDCS. Electroencephalography recorded power spectral density calculated. Both total acquisition significantly higher than group (P < 0.001 P 0.05, respectively). Motor = 0.132, Cohen’s d 1.46). Speed–accuracy both groups post-test. exhibited lower electroencephalography activity frontal, fronto-central, centro-parietal alpha band regions compared 0.05). findings suggest that application can boost acquisition, with displaying superior facilitation. Furthermore, reduces rhythms execution, enhancing information processing efficiency.

Abstract Previous work has indicated that individual differences in cognitive performance can be predicted by characteristics of resting state oscillations, such as peak alpha frequency (IAF). Although IAF previously been correlated with functions, memory, attention, or mental speed, its link to conflict processing remains unexplored. The current investigated the relationship between and inhibitory control two well‐established tasks, Stroop Navon task, while also controlling for power, theta 1/f offset aperiodic broadband activity. In Bayesian analyses on a large sample 127 healthy participants, we found substantial evidence against assumption predicts abilities spontaneously exert control. Similarly, our findings yielded links power bands offset. sum, results challenge frameworks suggesting an individual's ability engage attentional networks may mirrored EEG characteristics.

This PhD research focuses on executive functions; cognitive processes crucial for independent, adaptive and goal-directed behavior in everyday life. Executive functions depend a superordinate brain network, involving different parts of the cortex. The synchronization neural oscillations (i.e., waves) is fundamental communication mechanism within such networks that enable processes. For functions, theta (4-8 Hz) are particular interest because they generated response to events require control. Specifically, two neurophysiological markers function have been identified related oscillations: power frontal-midline cortex functional connectivity network.
