Learning an additional language has been linked to cognitive benefits, especially in older adults and those with impairments. However, it remains unclear whether such benefits extend Young Adults (YAs). This study explored the effects of learning Kannada, a Dravidian spoken Karnataka, on abilities healthy YAs (ages 18–25) who had no prior exposure languages recently migrated Karnataka for educational purposes. Given YAs' engagement mobile-based technology, self-directed, interactive, feedback-driven, application-based Kannada training program was used. The experimental group (EG, N = 23) completed 10 days training, practicing 60 minutes daily, while control (CG, received training. Results showed significant improvements proficiency EG, as measured by Language Experience Proficiency Questionnaire (LEAP-Q). were observed EG compared CG after period. Nevertheless, participants reported self-perceived benefits. lack gains could be attributed methodology, short duration, participants' multilingual backgrounds. suggests further research optimize assessing objective gains.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact ICT application on acquisition cognitive skills language learners. A questionnaire designed by Barnard et al. (2009) has been adopted collect responses from participants in a teacher training program conducted University Foreign Languages Studies, UD. research results demonstrate positive tendency learners acquire such as academic self-efficacy, time planning and management, regulation, task strategies, metacognitive activities when exposed online learning environment. This also suggests implications for instructors take into consideration improve outcomes.
