Deep brain stimulation (DBS) holds promise for neuropsychiatric conditions where imbalance in network activity contributes to symptoms. Treatment-resistant Combat post-traumatic stress disorder (TR-PTSD) is a highly morbid condition and 50% of PTSD sufferers fail recover despite psychotherapy or pharmacotherapy. Reminder-triggered symptoms may arise from inadequate top-down ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) control amygdala reactivity. Here, we report long-term data on two TR-PTSD participants an investigation utilizing high-frequency DBS. The combat veterans were implanted bilaterally with quadripolar electrodes targeting the basolateral amygdala. Following randomized staggered onset, patients received adjustments based symptom severity four years while psychiatric symptoms, neuropsychological performance, electroencephalography systematically monitored. Evaluation vmPFC-Amygdala engagement was assessed

Introduction Many people with eating disorders report having experienced childhood maltreatment or a traumatic event prior to developing an disorder. Although many have significant exposure symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, very little research has examined the effects combined treatments for this group. The purpose systematic review was synthesize all existing on biological those and psychological trauma, evaluate their safety, identify future areas in area support patients trauma. Method A multi-step literature search, according priori protocol performed PubMed, Embase, APA PsycINFO, Web Science, Scopus Cochrane Central. Studies needed include intervention at least one disorder trauma outcome. Given limited area, minimal exclusion criteria were applied. quality assessment included studies completed using Risk Bias Non-Randomized Studies-or Interventions (ROBINS-I) tool. Results After removing duplicates, 2623 article titles abstracts screened, 43 articles selected full-text review. Following review, 11 met inclusion criteria. repurposed medications (n = 3), ketamine 2), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS; n deep brain =1) electroconvulsive therapy (ECT; 1), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA; neurofeedback 1). All reported some improvement either pathology, strongest effect MDMA. While promising, missing data selective reporting interpretability findings. Adverse events across interventions common. Conclusion is common disorders, few been evaluated population. Future work should aim investigate co-occurring as these evolving show potential benefits complex

Current pharmacological treatments for major depressive disorder (MDD) are often only partially effective, with many patients experiencing no significant benefit, leading to treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Psilocybin, a classical serotonergic psychedelic, has emerged as notable emerging treatment such disorders. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is summarize discuss the most recent evidence about therapeutic effects single-dose two-dose psilocybin administration on severity symptoms, well compare efficacy these interventions among primary diagnosis MDD or TRD. Articles were collected from EBSCOhost PubMed following PRISMA guidelines, yielding 425 articles 138 duplicates. After screening 287 records, 12 studies met eligibility criteria included in review. A quantitative analysis indicates that highly effective reducing symptoms Both significantly reduced severity, sometimes more pronounced lasting effects. However, it unclear if was solely due dosage other factors. Future research should include standardized trials comparing dosing strategies better inform clinical practice.

PTSD cases represents a growing expense for society and the U.S. Veterans Administration since proportion of veterans with symptom exceed proportions in civilian population. The literature is not agreement whether “cure” exists what would look like. A wide variety treatment approaches have been applied differing results regarding mitigation symptoms duration mitigation. Authoritative sources from United States, Kingdom Australia identity specific psychotherapies as “gold standard” treatment. Despite warnings, patients prescribed pharmacological remedies. In States only two drugs approved by US Food Drug (FDA) However, wider array has prescribed. Department Veteran Affairs (DVA) specifically concluded that benzodiazepines use recommended strategy treatment, yet it dispensed to veterans, although at more limited rate than previously. Knowledge about relative effectiveness alternative treatments still emerging. As indicated changes guidelines, conventional wisdom fluid need periodic reassessment. Research on new types should be ongoing.

This narrative review of the literature on noninvasive brain stimulation techniques observes four neurostimulation domains: light therapy, photobiomodulation, a group within transcranial electric current and magnetic field stimulations, low-frequency sound including vibroacoustic rhythmic auditory stimulation. The aims to determine whether or not different approaches rely upon similar physicochemical sequence actions. study identifies relevant hypotheses about processes at cellular level underlying data analysis reveals that mitochondria activity will likely play central role in stimulations implemented by approaches. Additionally, mother-fetus neurocognitive model gives insight into conditions natural fetal nervous system during pregnancy. Drawing these findings, article supposes hypothesis origin gestation. presents requisites nature-based technique, called Acoustic Photonic Intellectual Neurostimulation (APIN), derived from studying components.
