Introduction: Binge eating disorder (BED) is a psychiatric illness related to high frequency of episodes binge eating, loss control, body image dissatisfaction, and suffering caused by overeating. It estimated that 30% patients with BED are affected obesity. “Mindful eating” (ME) promising new technique can improve self-control good food choices, helping increase awareness about the triggers intuitive training. Objectives: To analyze impact ME on quality life, habits, anthropometric data [weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference] in obesity BED. Method: This quantitative, prospective, longitudinal, experimental study recruited 82 diagnosed The intervention was divided into eight individual weekly meetings, guided sessions, nutritional educational dynamics, cooking workshops, sensory analyses, applications questionnaires [Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ); Eating Scale (BES); Quality Life (WHOQOL-BREF)]. There no dietary prescription for calories, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, fiber. Patients were only encouraged consume fewer ultra-processed foods more natural minimally processed foods. meetings occurred from October November 2023. Statistical analysis: carry out inferential statistics, Shapiro–Wilk test used verify normality variable distribution. All variables identified as non-normal distribution compared between first eighth week using two-tailed Wilcoxon test. Non-Gaussian represented median ± interquartile range (IQR). Additionally, α < 0.05 p adopted. Results: Significant reductions found weight, BMI, circumference, BSQ scale score, BES total energy value (all 0.0001). In contrast, there significant WHOQOL-BREF score daily water intake (p Conclusions: improved data, life participants short-term. However, an extension project will be necessary long-term.

Binge eating is a central component of two clinical disorders: binge disorder and bulimia nervosa. However, the large treatment gap highlights need to identify other strategies decrease eating. Novel pharmacotherapies may be one such approach. Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) an intestinal brain-derived neuroendocrine signal with critical role in promoting glycemic control through its incretin effect. Additionally, energy balance effects GLP-1 are well-established; activation receptor (GLP-1R) reduces food intake body weight. Aligned these beneficial metabolic effects, there GLP-1R agonists that currently used for diabetes obesity. A growing literature suggests also play important Dysregulation endogenous system associated non-human animal models, promising approach suppress overconsumption occurs during Here, we briefly discuss normal reward then review emerging evidence suggesting disruptions signaling We consider potential utility GLP-1-based reducing behavior.

Background: High delay discounting (DD), or the tendency to prefer immediate rewards over larger delayed rewards, has been associated with health risk behaviors. This study examined DD of hyper-palatable foods (HPFs) and money, their associations eating motives binge behavior. Methods: An adult sample (N = 296) completed a task single- cross-commodity conditions money and/or HPF (e.g., now vs. later; later). Regression models tested association between DD, eating. Results: in later condition was positively reward enhancement motive (β 0.291; p 0.008) behavior 0.041; 0.017). There were no other significant associations. Conclusions: Decisional impulsivity specific HPFs (and not decisional general) may be reward-motivated

Research supports the premise that greater substance use is associated with fewer sources of environmental reinforcement. However, it remains unclear whether types reinforcement (e.g., social or work) may differentially influence use. This study tested association between and engagement in multiple health risk behaviors (alcohol use, binge eating, nicotine use). Cross-sectional data were collected from a general population sample US adults (N = 596). The Pleasant Events Schedule (PES) was used to measure Exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) characterized different areas correlations alcohol consumption, A four-factor structure PES demonstrated conceptually cohesive model acceptable fit partial strict invariance. Social-related positively consumption (β 0.30, p < 0.001) eating 0.26, 0.001). Work/school-related negatively −0.14, 0.006). No significantly (p values 0.069 0.755). activities be (more use), whereas work/school-related preventative against eating. Understanding these relationships can inform prevention efforts targeting behaviors.

The food addiction model of binge-eating postulates that hyperpalatable can sensitize the reward processing system and lead to elevated cue-elicited motivational biases towards food, which eventually become habitual compulsive. However, previous research on conditioning in individuals with is scarce. present study examined Pavlovian-instrumental transfer (PIT) effects recurrent binge-eating. It was hypothesized would elicit specific effects, i.e., biased responding for signaled even after satiation this effect be stronger compared healthy controls.Fifty-one adults 50 weight-matched controls (mean age: 23.95 [SD = 5.62]; % female 76.2%) completed PIT paradigm rewards. Participants also measures hunger, mood, impulsivity, response disinhibition, working memory. Mixed ANOVAs were conducted examine if they differed between those without. The group by cue interaction not significant, suggesting did differ groups. main indicating outcome-specific instrumental food. attributable suppressed presence predicting no reward, rather than enhanced food-predicting cues. The findings support hypothesis more vulnerable elicited as measured paradigm.Cues associated are known increase one’s motivation consumption.
