Effectiveness of the Mindfulness-Based Social–Emotional Growth (MSEG) Program in Enhancing Mental Health of Elementary School Students in Korea

Since
the
COVID-19
pandemic,
mental
health
challenges
among
children
and
adolescents
in
South
Korea
have
intensified
with
rising
rates
of
depression
suicide.
Proactive
interventions
focusing
on
well-being
are
needed
to
address
this
critical
issue.
This
study
examines
effectiveness
Mindfulness-based
Social–Emotional
Growth
(MSEG)
program
for
enhancing
elementary
school
students
Korea.
quasi-experimental
evaluated
impact
MSEG
at
an
Gyeonggi-do,
A
total
70
(35
from
lower
grades
[grades
1–3]
35
upper
4–6])
participated
12-week
intervention
group,
while
72
were
control
group.
Pre-
post-intervention
assessments
measured
social–emotional,
mindfulness,
clinical
domains.
The
findings
revealed
significant
improvements
emotional
regulation
across
all
grades.
Lower-grade
showed
substantially
reduced
anxiety
depression,
upper-grade
demonstrated
enhanced
resilience
compared

results
indicate
potential
