Only in recent years, thanks to a precision medicine-based approach, have treatments tailored the sex of each patient emerged clinical trials. In this regard, both striated muscle tissues present significant differences between two sexes, which may important consequences for diagnosis and therapy aging chronic illness. fact, preservation mass disease conditions correlates with survival; however, should be considered when protocols maintenance are designed. One obvious difference is that men more than women. Moreover, sexes differ inflammation parameters, particularly response infection disease. Therefore, unsurprisingly, women respond differently therapies. review, we an up-to-date overview on what known about skeletal physiology disfunction, such as disuse atrophy, age-related sarcopenia, cachexia. addition, summarize underly aforementioned because pro-inflammatory cytokines deeply affect homeostasis. The aim of this review is the attempt to differentiating pathophysiologic and clinical features aging-related sarcopenia from cancer-related sarcopenia. In fact, there some controversy among experts mainly regarding two points: always sarcopenia, even that one, expression a generalized disease or may exist independently without major alteration muscle function? Are completely separated entities?

Background: Despite the current data on morbidity and mortality, a growing number of patients with diagnosis cancer survive due to an early advances in treatment modalities. This study aimed compare quality life coping strategies three groups identify associated clinical sociodemographic characteristics. Methods: A comparative was conducted outpatients at public hospital state São Paulo, Brazil. The 300 participants were assigned groups: palliative care (Group A), post-treatment follow-up no evidence disease B), undergoing for C). Data collection involved use McGill Quality Life Questionnaire Ways Coping Questionnaire. No generic quality-of-life assessment tool utilized, as it would not be able appropriately evaluate impact specific group receiving care. Results: underused. Participants had poorer life, particularly psychological well-being physical symptom domains. Age, currently treatment, level education significantly scores. gender, income, absence pharmacological pain control independently Moreover, positive association found between life. Conclusion: Cancer generally report lower However, male patients, those who did rely control, higher scores reported better perception their tended decrease age income level. Patients more likely strategies. also decreased age.

Introduction Burn-induced sepsis is a critical clinical challenge marked by systemic inflammation, immune dysregulation, and high mortality. Macrophage-driven inflammatory pathways are central to pathogenesis, while cell metabolic reprogramming plays key role in both cancer progression. Methods Bioinformatics analyses using GEO, TCGA, GTEx datasets identified MLIP-modulated genes linked responses prognosis. In vitro , LPS-stimulated HUVEC cells were used study MLIP’s effects on inflammation macrophage function through viability, ROS levels, cytokine expression, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence assays. Results associated with immune-related cancer. Epigenetic analysis showed MLIP expression regulated promoter methylation chromatin accessibility. Prognostic revealed impact survival outcomes across types. reduced oxidative stress, hyperactivation. Conclusions regulates immune-metabolic dynamics burn-induced sepsis, influencing activity stress. Its suggests as potential therapeutic target linking modulation Further research evasion tumor metabolism may inform novel strategies.

A healthy diet and an active lifestyle are both effective ways to prevent, manage, treat many diseases, including cancer. healthy, well-balanced not only ensures that the body gets right amount of nutrients meet its needs, but it also lets get substances protect against and/or prevent certain diseases. It is now clear obesity linked long-term diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, The main reasons for people being overweight or obese having bad eating habits moving around enough. Maintaining weight in normal range may be one best things avoid has been scientifically proven those who perform regular physical activity less likely develop cancer than lead a sedentary lifestyle. Moving regularly helps maintain weight, avoiding effects favor tumor growth subjects, makes immune system more resistant by counteracting cells. Physical cardiovascular metabolic In this review, highlighted association between Mediterranean triggers biological mechanisms capable low-grade chronic inflammation found patients with This assumes lifestyles associated therapies can improve expectations quality life patients.

Cancer-associated cachexia represents a multifactorial syndrome mainly characterized by muscle mass loss, which causes both decrease in quality of life and anti-cancer therapy failure, among other consequences. The definition diagnostic criteria have changed improved over time, including three different stages (pre-cachexia, cachexia, refractory cachexia) objective markers. This metabolic wasting is negative protein balance, drugs like chemotherapy or immunotherapy exacerbate it through relatively unknown mechanisms. Due to its complexity, management involves multidisciplinary strategy not only nutritional pharmacological interventions. Physical exercise has been proposed as counteract the effects on skeletal muscle, influences mechanisms involved disease such turnover, inflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction. review will summarize experimental clinical evidence impact physical cancer-associated cachexia.

Glioblastoma (GBM) patients face a strongly unfavorable prognosis despite multimodal therapy regimens. However, individualized mortality prediction remains imprecise. Harnessing routine radiation planning cranial computed tomography (CT) scans, we assessed cervical body composition measures as novel biomarkers for overall survival (OS) in GBM patients. We performed threshold-based semi-automated quantification of muscle and subcutaneous fat cross-sectional area (CSA) at the levels first second vertebral body. First, tested this method's validity by correlating to established abdominal an open-source whole-body CT cohort. We then identified consecutive undergoing recent diagnosis our institution from 2010 2020 quantified on scans. Finally, univariable multivariable time-to-event analyses, adjusting age, sex, mass index, comorbidities, performance status, extent surgical resection, tumor diagnosis, MGMT methylation.Cervical measurements were well-correlated with markers (Spearman's rho greater than 0.68 all cases). Subsequently, included 324 study cohort (median age 63 years, 60.8% male). 293 (90.4%) died during follow-up. Median time was 13 months. Patients below-average CSA or above-average demonstrated shorter survival. In continuous remained independently associated OS.This exploratory establishes routinely available scans confirms their association OS diagnosed GBM.
