Numerous natural substances have anti-cancer properties. Especially indigenous people use aqueous plant extracts for tea or ointments including Dioscorea sansibarensis Pax to treat various diseases. The aim of this study was evaluate the cytotoxic and radiosensitizing potential from collected Kenya in a panel HPV-negative -positive head neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cells grown three-dimensional laminin-rich extracellular matrix (3D lrECM). results show cytotoxicity, radiosensitization increased levels residual double strand breaks (DBS) by HNSCC models concentration- model-dependent manner. Application ROS scavengers indicated an association between ROS-induced DSB through pretreatment. High-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) based characterization identified main components extract camptothecin. Overall, alone combination with X-ray irradiation showed effective anticancer properties, which are worthy further mechanistic investigation.

Artesunate (ART) is a classic antimalarial drug with high efficiency, low toxicity and tolerance. It has been shown to be safe good anti-tumor effect. Existing clinical studies have that the mechanisms of ART mainly include inducing apoptosis autophagy tumor cells, affecting microenvironment, regulating immune response, overcoming resistance, as well inhibiting cell proliferation, migration, invasion, angiogenesis. proven fight against lung cancer, hepatocarcinoma, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemia, colorectal ovarian cervical malignant melanoma, oral squamous carcinoma, bladder prostate cancer other neoplasms. In this review, we highlight effects on various tumors an emphasis its mechanism, which helpful propose potential research directions expand application.
