Polyamines (Pas) are short molecules that exhibit two or three amine groups positively charged at a physiological pH. These small present in high concentrations wide variety of organisms and tissues, suggesting they play an important role cellular physiology. include spermine, spermidine, putrescine, which roles age-related diseases have not been completely elucidated. Aging is natural process, defined as the time-related deterioration functions; it considered risk factor for degenerative such cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, musculoskeletal diseases; arthritis; even cancer. In this review, we provide new perspective on participation Pas molecular processes related to diseases, focusing our attention Alzheimerߣs disease, Parkinsonߣs osteoarthritis, sarcopenia, osteoporosis. This leads us propose function novel biomarkers with main purpose achieving alternatives healthier aging.

Sarcopenia is a disease characterized by decreasing muscle mass and strength or performance. The prevalence of sarcopenia in rheumatic diseases has been evaluated single using various diagnostic approaches, generating conflicting data. study aims to investigate young adults with inflammatory arthritis (IA) detect factors associated low strength. single-center, cross-sectional included 138 IA. Dynamometry Jamar hand dynamometer was used determine handgrip Thresholds for reduced were < 27 kg males 16 females. To skeletal index (SMI), dual photon X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) done such cut-off points 5.67 kg/m2 females 7.0 males. Patients both considered as sarcopenic. Logistic regression analyses estimated between factors. Statistical significance defined p-value 0.05. about 47% all IA significantly different juvenile idiopathic (JIA), spondyloarthritis (SpA), rheumatoid (RA) groups (p = 0.006). At multivariable analysis, body (BMI) (OR 0.84; CI 95% 0.72–0.86, p 0.02), bone mineral density (BMD) at femur neck 0.01; 0.001–0.268, 0.01), 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) 0.96; 0.93–0.98, 0.001), disability Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) 14.54; 4.92–51.77, 0.001) increased risk sarcopenia. results our demonstrate high among patients In these participants, lower BMI, BMD, 25(OH)D concentration, higher HAQ linked

Background: The occurrence of sarcopenia escalates swiftly as age advances. Both lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and a prolonged high-fat diet (HFD) can trigger skeletal muscle wasting, yet the combined impact these 2 factors remains an enigma. Objective: To present animal model induced by LPS HFD in rats. Methods: We divided 10-month-old male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats into control group, low-dose (150 µg/kg)-HFD group (LD-LPS-HFD), high-dose (200 (HD-LPS-HFD). Control were intraperitoneally injected with 0.9% physiological saline solution fed ordinary feed, while LPS-HFD groups twice week had for 8 weeks. Sarcopenia Index, relative grip strength, hematoxylin eosin staining, Sirius red western blotting, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay verified sarcopenia. Results: Index values LD-LPS-HFD HD-LPS-HFD significantly decreased, differences more than SD indicating that was successful. Although strength reduced, only difference which consistent characteristics decline Cross-sectional areas fiber diameters decreased but lower HD-LPS-HFD. Fibrosis, MuRF1, FbX32, p53 protein expression increased higher p21, interleukin 6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha levels Conclusion: study shows intervention 200 µg/kg injections weeks middle-aged effectively mimics sarcopenia, causing mass loss, cellular atrophy, interstitial infiltration, inflammation, aging marker expression.

Abstract Objective Little is known about the longitudinal associations between creatinine-cystatin C ratios (CCR) with muscle volume and function during menopausal transition. We investigated relationship of baseline CCR, volumes measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), objectively strength physical performance after 6.6-year follow-up. Methods Participants from Integrated Women's Health Programme (IWHP) cohort (n = 891, mean age 56.2 ± 6.0) who attended both follow-up visits underwent assessments MRI. Creatinine to cystatin ratio was calculated as (creatinine [mg/dL] / [mg/L]) low CCR were those in lowest tertile (CCR < 8.16). Multivariable regression analyses used determine 6.6 years later. Results Baseline associated lower MRI-measured poorer Compared high group, fat-free thigh group 0.350 L (95% CI, 0.183‐0.518) adjustment for covariates. Similarly, 0.029 m/s slower 0.006‐0.053) usual gait 0.049 0.020‐0.078) narrow speeds. not handgrip repeated chair stands one-leg stand tests. Conclusion Low at speeds The potential a predictive biomarker adverse events related sarcopenia midlife women merits further investigation.

Sarcopenia is an age-associated skeletal muscle disease characterized by the progressive loss of mass and function. The objective this systematic review meta-analysis was to evaluate associations between sarcopenia cardio-cerebrovascular (CCVD). A comprehensive search PubMed/Medline, Embase, Web Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library databases conducted from their inception April 1st, 2023. total eight cross-sectional studies involving 63,738,162 participants met inclusion criteria. Pooled estimates odds ratios (ORs) were calculated using random-effects models. findings demonstrated a significant association increased risk CCVD (OR: 1.33, 95% CI: 1.18 - 1.50, I2 = 1%; p < 0.001). Subgroup analyses indicated that associated with 1.67-fold increase in stroke 1.31-fold CVD. Four included examined sarcopenic obesity CCVD, results revealed higher 1.64, 1.08 2.49, 69%; Meta-regressions sensitivity consistently supported robustness overall findings. In conclusion, are significantly elevated developing CCVD. However, further prospective cohort warranted validate relationship while controlling for confounding factors.
