Abstract Infants constitute a significant proportion of admissions into out-of-home care (OOHC). These vulnerable infants face heightened health and well-being challenges compared to the general population. Addressing their complex needs is crucial requires knowledgeable foster kinship carers. However, extent which these carers receive specialized training support for largely unknown. This study provides insights experiences providing (<12 months) in Australia. A total 232 participated an online survey, reporting on received eight key areas: infant nutrition, feeding, bathing, sleeping, immunization, development, attachment, developmental trauma. ABSTRACT Worldwide, around 2.7 million children are not in the care of their parents, and access to breastmilk is often absent from foster policies. We aimed explore evidence available on how families, health social workers mothers with infants can be supported providing breastfeeding expressed (EBM), identify barriers facilitators for EMB care. ABSTRACT This empirical study in the jurisdiction of New South Wales, Australia, explores complex and unenviable processes legal actors undertake when making decisions about removing infants from their birth parents. Professionals legal, statutory child protection health contexts were interviewed regarding experiences perspectives decision‐making practices placing out‐of‐home care (OOHC). Informed by vulnerability theory, analysis interview data found that government apparatuses designed to protect vulnerable can sometimes have paradoxical effect increasing overall infant vulnerability. Findings suggest a need for wider‐ranging research how international domestic law might be improved better recognize unique developmental status vulnerabilities system.
