Abstract This study investigates the climate resilience of coastal communities in Vietnam’s Nghe An province, a region highly exposed due to its extensive coastline and dense population. Employing Climate Disaster Resilience Index (CDRI), research assesses three districts — Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc climate-induced disasters. The analysis reveals good high overall across five dimensions (physical, social, economic, institutional, natural). Chau boasts highest score (4.06), followed by Luu (4.04), (4.01). While strong infrastructure essential services contribute physical resilience, social capital development requires further attention. Economic is bolstered employment rates, but income asset accumulation need improvement. Effective policies disaster risk management strategies highlight institutional resilience. Natural resource demonstrates adaptability, land-use planning warrants enhancement. underscores districts’ preparedness for challenges while pinpointing areas improvement all CDRI dimensions. By addressing these vulnerabilities, An’s can strengthen their

The warming climate and increasing extreme weather events are transforming ecological backgrounds, which is bringing new challenges to herders’ livelihood in grassland areas. To understand the practical risks current resilience situations of behaviors government correspondence measures, we built a conceptual framework community pastoral areas, selected different kinds steppes along gradient (desert steppe, typical steppe meadow steppe) took household surveys recognize difference enhancing strategies types. results show that: (1) Herders desert with lowest precipitation worst condition, turn out have more experience perceiving droughts mitigating loss from disaster, but received most attention assistance (28.0%) getting through drought; (2) Typical traditionally better pastural husbandry environment, suffered broadly (85.7%) livestock (26.7%) snow storms; (3) Meadow has highest catastrophic storm ratio (65.0%) affected (95.0%), least (22.22%). revealed that originally high vulnerability gradually encouraged herder’s adaptive capability. However, inclined local original vulnerability. In addition, knowledge systems indigenous herders under good condition. There clear need combine efforts pastoralists, policymakers scientific together construct resilient socio-ecological global change. This research provides an in-depth understanding areas while facing slow-onset change impacts. Practical recommendations on risk management adaptation discussed.

This study applies the Livelihood Vulnerability Index within IPCC vulnerability framework (LVI-IPCC) to assess of households climate change in Hue City, Vietnam. The research then seeks identify critical factors contributing household via a regression model, while concurrently conducting an intersectional analysis that considers gender, geographical location, and economic status. Using cross-sectional data collection methodology, we surveyed 1080 across 36 communes/wards City from October December 2022 employing semi-structured questionnaire. Our findings indicate situated on periphery, particularly those recently incorporated, are at higher risk natural disasters. Poor peri-urban areas most susceptible impacts environmental stressors. Furthermore, women less adaptable than men, partly due their limited decision-making power. Factors such as head characteristics, degree risk, food security, knowledge skills, social networks identified vulnerability. Reconizing these, our emphasizes urgent need for integrated approaches address multiple dimensions adaptation beyond. includes investing areas, addressing poverty inequality, promoting gender-sensitive approaches, simultaneously enhance resilience cities

Background: Climate change is an urgent global threat, with women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) disproportionately facing adverse health outcomes. Gendered roles, combined socioeconomic, cultural, environmental factors, exacerbate women’s vulnerabilities, increasing the burden of mental issues, water insecurity, sanitation challenges, caregiving responsibilities. Objectives: This review seeks to systematically examine intersection between climate gendered a particular focus on women. It explores how intensifies gender-specific risks identifies pathways for integrating gender-responsive policies mitigate both short- long-term impacts.
