Purpose Financial toxicity (FT) refers to the subjective perception of financial distress resulting from objective economic strain due illness, exerting a detrimental influence on health outcomes. This study aimed describe FT among allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplant (allo-HSCT) recipients within public framework, employing social determinants approach. Methods A multi-centre cross-sectional involving adult allo-HSCT patients was conducted across three hospitals in Madrid. assessed using validated COST scale (range 0–44; lower scores indicating higher FT). Patient-administered paper/online questionnaires were utilized collect data sociodemographic, socioeconomic, clinical, and healthcare access variables. Descriptive, non-parametric univariate statistical analysis multiple linear regression models performed. Results Sixty-six patients, with mean age: 52.5 years (SD: 11.5), 50% women, 28.7% displaced Madrid for HSCT, 71.4% lacking support included. The median score 20 points (IQR 12–27.25). Independent factors associated included being females (Coef = −3.26; p 0.079), perceived income loss after HSCT −6.81; < 0.001) monthly household ≤1000 € compared 1001–2500€ 8.29; 0.005) or >2500 15.75; 0.001). Conclusions Despite limited sample size, our findings underscore presence shaped by health. Recognizing addressing process is essential mitigate inequalities

PurposeThis study aims to identify the key factors influencing health-related quality of life (HRQoL) pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients following their initial diagnosis and examine impact on five-year survival prognosis.MethodsA chart review follow-up were conducted for children with AML who participated in a prospective cohort between 2017 2020. We identified HRQoL through Pediatric Quality Life Inventory™ (PedsQL™ 4.0), PedsQL™ Cancer Module 3.0 (CM 3.0) Family Impact 2.0 (FIM 2.0), as well assessed impaired overall outcomes patients.ResultsSixty-four subjects enrolled had complete outcome data, 61 them completed 5-year follow-up. In CM 3.0, age was positively associated parental proxy reports (p = 0.040), whereas divorced families negatively child self-reports 0.045). A positive medical history correlates FIM 0.025). Residence 0.046), occupation caregivers 0.014), disease severity 0.024), only 0.029) exhibited statistically significant associations impairment HRQoL. Impaired scores shown by PedsQL™4.0 parent report 0.013) 0.011) reduced rate.ConclusionsThis demonstrated that early has predictive value long-term prognosis. Once validated, these findings may provide some guidance clinicians treating AML.

Background While racial disparities in the clinical outcomes of hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) patients have been explored, quality life (QoL) during readjustment phase after has yet to be investigated pediatric patients. The objective this study was examine role patient race QoL at least two years HSCT. Procedure We conducted a retrospective chart review under 21 age diagnosis that received an allogeneic our institution between January 2007 and December 2017. Patient assessed using PedsQL TM 4.0 post-transplant. demographic, treatment, outcome data were obtained for subsequent analysis, where categorized as either Black, White, Hispanic, or Native American. Results Data collected on 86 who underwent Forty (46.5%) non-Hispanic 29 (33.7%) 10 (11.6%) 7 (8.1%) Where preliminary analyses indicated difference by race, there no significant differences physical, emotional, social, school functioning adjusting characteristics (age transplant, sex, diagnosis, donor type conditioning regimen) determinants socioeconomic status (insurance type, estimated household income).
