Osteosarcoma (OSA) is a naturally occurring malignant bone tumor in both humans and canines that characterized by aggressive local behavior high propensity for metastasis. Despite advances diagnostic methods therapies, long-term survival rates have remained stagnant, underscoring the great need development of biomarkers serving prognosis diagnosis OSA across species. Biomarkers, molecular indicators disease presence or progression, are pivotal tools oncology, offering potential to determine risk stratification, guide targeted monitor treatment response. This review provides an in-depth analysis current landscape biomarkers, highlighting prognostic markers identified We highlighted role including protein, cellular, metabolic, imaging, genetic, epigenetic markers, osteosarcoma categorized them multiple domains. Furthermore, this explores utility canine model research, emphasizing its relevance human due comparable approaches, indicators, clinical manifestations. With review, we aim demonstrate integrating biomarker research species can deepen understanding pathogenesis advance knowledge underlying biology, ultimately paving way precision medicine strategies benefit veterinary oncology.
