The
relationship
between
physical
activity
time,
openness
and
depression
symptoms
among
adolescents
is
a
cutting-edge
research
direction
in
the
field,
yet
it
remains
unclear.This
study
based
on
sample
of
7924
students
from
nationally
representative
China
Education
Panel
Survey
database
examines
bidirectional
relationships
Chinese
adolescents.Descriptive
analysis
showed
that
during
7th
8th
grades,
average
time
decreased
to
less
than
one
hour
per
day,
accompanied
by
decreasing
trend
slight
worsening
symptoms.Correlation
significant
negative
correlation
symptoms,
positive
openness,
openness.The
results
cross-lagged
models
indicated
with
significantly
positively
predicting
following
year
year.In
addition,
had
unidirectional
predictive
effect
conclusions
provide
empirical
evidence
for
education
administration

health

Metacognitive scaffolding for preservice teachers’ self-regulated design of higher order thinking tasks

This
study
compared
two
professional
training
courses
targeting
self-regulated
learning
(SRL)
amongst
preservice
secondary
science
teachers
in
the
context
of
didactic
content
knowledge
for
teaching
higher-order
thinking
(HOT-PCK),
either
with
metacognitive
scaffolding
(Meta
group)
or
without
(Control
group).
Measures
included
trainees'
comprehension
and
design
HOT-PCK
tasks,
online
SRL
reflections
about
learning-teaching
events,
self-reported
aptitude.
Results
indicated
skill
improvement
both
groups,
but
support
provided
by
IMPROVE
self-questioning
technique
better
enhanced
teachers'
(PSTs)
development
HOT-PCK,
as
students
(comprehension
skills)
future
(design
skills),
additionally
their
ability
to
reflect
on
control
studying.
Findings
also
revealed
significant
correlations
between
assessments
(self-reports,
event-based
reflections)
indices.
Consequences
teacher
education
combining
contexts
are
discussed.
