Effective stakeholder engagement and inclusive governance are essential for effective equitable ocean management. However, few cross-national studies have been conducted to examine how stakeholders’ economic cultural benefit perceptions influence their support level policies focused on preservation. The current study aims fill this gap by employing the Bayesian Mindsponge Framework (BMF) analytics a dataset of 709 stakeholders from 42 countries, part MaCoBioS project funded European Commission H2020. We found that generally negatively associated with policy level. Regarding aspects, considering transportation shipping, renewable energy generation, oil gas provision as most crucial benefits countries’ oceans provide tend obtain less focusing Meanwhile, perceiving recreation tourism, aesthetic pleasure, mental health well-being support, sense identity important provided country’s perceived economic, cultural, environmental tradeoffs when supporting preservation were discussed. Recommendations improving management multi-use marine space also reduce competing interests among stakeholders.

Climate change prevention necessitates the communication of transparent and reliable scientific evidence to improve public awareness support. Felt responsibility is an essential factor influencing human environment-related psychology behavior. However, knowledge about relationship between felt perceived uncertainty regarding climate has remained limited. The current study examines factors associated with (including act on change) among stakeholders marine coastal ecosystems in 42 countries. Employing Bayesian Mindsponge Framework (BMF) analytics a dataset 709 generated by MaCoBioS—a research project funded European Commission Horizon 2020, we reveal several main insights. Stakeholders lower educational levels, being males not from high-income countries, are more likely think how uncertain. Moreover, people higher also perceive evidence. Based these findings, discuss should be communicated build eco-surplus culture and, subsequently, while inoculating them misinformation disinformation.
