Abstract In this paper, an efficient image compression encryption scheme is proposed. Firstly, compressing the by using BP neural network before encryption, which not only saves subsequent and decryption time but also minimizes storage transmission space. Secondly, Chialvo neuron model used to generate chaotic sequences for process in scheme, confusing compressed according a confusion algorithm combining single-plane cross-plane. Next, diffusing confused image. Subsequently, diffused are DNA encoded, performing same or operation (DNA mutual mutations) mutations self-mutations). Finally, results decoded obtain cipher Security tests performance analysis show that can efficiently securely compress encrypt images of different sizes with higher reconstruction quality compared other schemes.
