Current bioeconomy research is biased towards the supply side and lacks a holistic overview of bioeconomy’s growth limiting factors (limiters). To provide such an overview, literature review was performed to identify classify limiters' effect (supply demand) they are conditional on (anthropogenic biophysical). The results indicated clustering limiters anthropogenic with effects. In contrast, demand were barely included, reinforcing impression bias in literature. Among limiters, there also clear distinction between biophysical factors, as latter included literature, indicating gap. We suggest including non-anthropogenic consumption limiter, which emphasises our competition other organisms for biomass. Two possible explanations that it caused by myopic analyses technological innovation processes prominent solutions, prevalence Kuznets curve optimistic visons or combination both. It would be interest quantitatively verify whether these justified, particularly policy technology legitimacy crucial we assume.

The circular economy (CE) and bioeconomy (BE) are recognized as potential solutions for achieving sustainable development, yet little research has examined their contribution to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this study, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of 649 articles published between 2007 2022, well systematic literature review 81 articles, assess extent which CE BE communities have addressed SDGs. The development of the bioeconomy in European Union is promoted through various policies. In Greece, however, there a paucity research on issues and policies at both national regional levels. This study systematically examines feasibility developing blueprint within context geographically isolated mountainous region. By employing an integrated strategic framework combining sustainable resource management, innovation participatory governance, proposed emphasizes transition from conventional, unsustainable economic practices to contemporary paradigm underpinned by tenets circular economy utilization local resources. A central tenet enhancement collaborative endeavors among stakeholders, academic institutions, business entities, with overarching objective being promotion cutting-edge technologies diversification Concurrently, emphasis placed necessity establish conducive policies, regulatory frameworks, financial mechanisms that will facilitate industries mitigate environmental impact. text importance human resources educational training programs, ensuring adaptability demands emerging bioeconomy. concludes that, despite inherent difficulties arising geographical isolation limited access resources, region has potential for development. region’s capacity contingent upon implementation suitable strategies mobilization investment, which be instrumental establishment robust environmentally model.

This study examined how agricultural biodiversity can build climate change resilience and food security in Greece. The aims of this were to identify examine the role genetic, species, ecosystem, functional diversity enhancing against volatility. Data collected from 384 specialists Greece using a quantitative, cross-sectional survey technique. self-administered questionnaire elicited information on perceived effectiveness different types sustaining yield stability for crops, pest disease control, soil conservation, nutrient cycling. hypotheses tested descriptive statistics multiple regression analysis. findings revealed that genetic decreases crop risks, species lowers vulnerability, ecosystem impacts water optimize cycling services. analysis was able explain 62.1% variability resilience, underlining importance conservation biological provision food. points need bio-diversity management agriculture address support productivity production.

Abstract The concept of the bioeconomy holds great promise for promoting green growth and competitiveness across Europe through use renewable biological resources, such as plant animal biomass, while adhering to principles circularity. Despite its introduction by European Commission in 2015, little effort has been made define or describe what exactly a circular entails. In case Greece particular, however, survival region Western Macedonia appears be highly dependent on sustaining agricultural activity incorporating elements related this crucial sector economy. order transformation effective, bio-economic practices relevant crop production appropriate alternative management must universally implemented at all levels. To achieve this, it was necessary collect questionnaires from 412 farmers analysis purposes, classify their responses based k-means cluster analysis, which later formed these systematic groups: modernists, early adopters latecomers. Evaluation categories revealed variety factors, age income, that significantly influenced attitudes towards adopting farming circularity principles. Overall, understanding challenges opens door policy decisions aimed supporting development sustainable rural areas.
