A microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a bio-electrochemical system that utilizes electroactive microorganisms to generate electricity. These microorganisms, which convert the energy stored in substrates such as wastewater into electricity, grow on anode. To ensure biocompatibility, anodes are typically made from carbon-based materials. Therefore, material (by-product of coconut processing) was selected for testing this study. The anode prepared by bonding activated carbon with paint glass electrode. aim study analyze feasibility using an electrode manner surface layer MFC. performance coated only also evaluated. two electrodes were compared felt electrode, commonly used MFCs. In research, MFC fed by-product yeast production, namely molasses decoction processing. Measurements conducted standard two-chamber membrane separating chambers. During experiment, parameters start-up time, voltage during start-up, output voltage, and power density curves analyzed. paint-coated additive demonstrated operating similar those results indicate it possible produce (on base MFCs painting method; however, achieve comparable felt, addition necessary. This demonstrates forming biocompatible various surfaces. Incorporating does not complicate fabrication process, fine ACC grains can be directly applied wet layer. Additionally, use conductive active offers versatility designing shapes, enabling them suitable promote biofilm formation. Moreover, findings confirm waste-derived materials effectively utilized components anodes. validate chosen research approach emphasize potential further investigations field, contributing development cost-efficient derived by-products applications.
