Plant-, animal-, municipal-, and industrial-based biomasses are the sustainable sources of energy that available in large quantities. However, their transportation storage costly, improper waste management causes negative effects on environment. Effective biomass ensures long-term feasibility natural resources for development reduces dependence nonrenewable sources. Various physical, thermal, chemical biological methods solid liquid waste. The conversion can be achieved through pyrolysis, liquefaction, combustion, gasification, anaerobic digestion, fermentation, transesterification methods. These conversions generate value-added, environment-friendly products such as fertilizers, biogas, biofuels.
