Evidence on the Social, Economic, and Environmental Impact of Interventions That Facilitate Bamboo Industry Development for Sustainable Livelihoods: A Systematic Map

Bamboo’s perceived potential in livelihood development has led to interventions that aim strengthen the bamboo industry via activities such as training participants management, strengthening institutions, and raising awareness. Using Campaign for Environmental Evidence’s guidelines, we systematically map available evidence of impact these interventions. The is scattered across peer-reviewed grey literature, with no universal reporting standards. Search sources this systematic include a bibliographic database, CABdirect (now known CABI Digital Library); search platform Web Science Core Collection; database academic literature on agriculture related fields, SEARCH by USDA National Agricultural Library; public engine scholarly Google Scholar; general engine, Google; websites 37 organizations, both proprietary engines used pdf files. Overall, 36 documents are included final review, describing 28 unique from 13 countries. Most found outside literature. Outcomes including income changes, increased participation engagement, policy changes reported, economic impacts dominating base. Very little negative outcomes found, likely constrained bias. Reporting limited, many being excluded due lack identifiable or impact.
