The increasing urbanisation and technological advancements have driven the global adoption of smart city initiatives, yet regional differences persist due to economic, social, disparities. Despite numerous studies on cities, there remains a research gap in comprehensive analyses exploring differentiations development. This study aims examine how cities differentiate, especially through associations between regions dimensions. utilises data from IMD Smart City Index 2023 applies multi-step methodology based United Nations’ geographic regions, employing geographical statistical analyses. findings reveal distinct differentiations, highlighting clear Global North–South divide notable subregional including Americas East–West Asia. correlation analysis demonstrates significant relationships dimensions, with mobility living exhibiting highest association. correspondence further identifies four major concentration groups, notably North, equi-distant all Asia, which is closely linked governance. confirm that development not uniform shaped by socio-economic conditions emphasises need for context-dependent policies.
