The status of Bactrocera dorsalis as a destructive pest fruits including mango continues to be challenge among farmers at Ghana. Although chemical insecticides have been employed manage its incidence and damage, there still exist gaps that need addressed concerns on toxic residues the possibility resistance evolvement by this insecticides. alternate management for fruit fly should therefore environmentally friendly with minimal side effects. objective was compare attractiveness homemade lures aqueous leaf extract Pimenta racemosa commercial attractant containing methyl eugenol. research involved use extracts trap conducted in five orchards two agro-ecological zones Ghana during major fruiting season 2017. Three experimental were each sectioned into blocks 20 trees each. Four block formed sampling making per orchard received treatments. dispensed traps made PET containers. A total 174,388 individual arthropods captured which 171,412 identified B. 2,976 non-target arthropods. There significant difference between performance lure (P < 0.05) expected. ability capture some flies is an indication potential low-cost option complement more expensive small farm holdings.

With the growing interest of society in healthy eating, fresh, ready-to-eat, functional food, such as microscale vegetables (sprouted seeds and microgreens), has been on rise recent years globally. This review briefly describes crops commonly used for vegetable production, highlights Brassica because their health-promoting secondary metabolites (polyphenols, glucosinolates), looks at consumer acceptance sprouts microgreens. Apart from main landraces, wild food plants, crops’ relatives often have high phytonutrient density exciting flavors tastes, thus providing scope to widen range species this purpose. Moreover, nutritional value content phytochemicals vary with plant growth development within same crop. Sprouted microgreens are more nutrient-dense than ungerminated or mature vegetables. also environmental priming factors that may impact These include environment, substrates, imposed stresses, seed biostimulants, biofortification, effect light controlled environments. touches microgreen market trends. Due short cycle, can be produced minimal input; without pesticides, they even home-grown harvested needed, hence having low impacts a broad among health-conscious consumers.

Climate change causes shifts in temperature patterns, and plants adapt their chemical content order to survive. We compared the effect of low (LT) high (HT) growing temperatures on phytochemical broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. convar. botrytis (L.) Alef. var. cymosa Duch.) microgreens bioactivity extracts. Using different spectrophotometric, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, statistical methods, we found that LT increased total phenolics tannins broccoli. The glucosinolates were also by LT; however, they decreased HT. Soluble sugars, known osmoprotectants, both types stress, considerably more HT than LT, suggesting a intense osmotic imbalance. Both detrimental for chlorophyll, with being impactful LT. hormone indole-3-acetic acid, implying an important role broccoli's defense. Ferulic sinapic acid showed trade-off scheme: ferulic while acid. stresses potential act against H2O2 damage mouse embryonal fibroblasts (MEF), human keratinocytes, liver cancer cells. Among tested cell treated H2O2, most significant reduction ROS (36.61%) was recorded MEF cells RT extracts inhibit α-amylase following stresses; inhibition pancreatic lipase only. From perspective nutritional value, based obtained results, conclude conditions result nutritious

Sprouts and microgreens which belong to the Brassicaceae family contain significantly more glucosinolates than mature vegetables, their composition often differs too. These plant growth stages can be a valuable supplement of aforementioned compounds in diet. The content proportion individual sprouts regulated by modifying length temperature cultivation, type light, use mineral compounds, elicitation, primming, cold plasma as well storage conditions. way are prepared for consumption affects yield glucosinolate hydrolysis. Polyphenols are organic chemical compounds naturally present in plants, renowned for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, anticancer, and cardiovascular protective properties. Their bioactivity bioavailability can vary widely depending on the methods of food processing interactions with gut microbiome. These factors induce changes polyphenols, affecting ability to achieve intended health benefits. Thus, it is essential develop apply that optimize polyphenol content while maintaining bioavailability. This review aims explore how various techniques affect quantity, bioactivity, as well microbiome, which may ultimately determine effects.
