Upcoming regulations aim to ban per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including commercial polymeric PFAS, or fluoropolymers, such as poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), due their environmental toxicological impacts. However, fluoropolymers also provide crucial properties for clean energy transitions, regulation may hinder further technological advancements. Therefore, a facile one-pot recycling–upcycling strategy using inexpensive biomass, cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), absorbents cocomponents fluoro-functionalized composites could align with global sustainability goals demands. Herein, we present closed-loop CNC-in-solvent (CiS) processing system, which involves stirring CNCs in only low-polarity solvents like toluene (CiS-T). Our study reveals that CiS-T is two-step process where the CNC–solvent interaction exposes CNCs' reducing end aldehyde protons solvent polarity promotes H–F bond formation. The used was recollected reused. Additionally, demonstrate practical application of PTFE– PVDF–CNC hybrids, byproducts process, performance-enhancing agents green-energy-harvesting devices triboelectric nanogenerators. findings not offer sustainable method overcome challenges from against but insights into developing an efficient, solvent-mediated CNC functionalization addresses forthcoming key industries.

Pharmaceutical wastewater is a major source of environmental contamination, often containing toxic metals that pose significant threats to ecosystems and public health. This study explores the potential magnetite/zinc oxide (Fe3O4/ZnO) nanocomposites prepared using sol-gel method for removal lead, cadmium, copper ions from pharmaceutical wastewater. The nanocomposite was characterized X-ray diffraction (XRD), High-resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM)/energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) Fourier transmission infrared (FTIR). XRD analysis identified 2θ (theta), 31.7º, 34.4º, 36.2º, 47.5º, 56.6º, 62.8º, 66.3º, 67.9º which correspond crystal planes (100), (002), (101), (102), (110), (103), (200), (112), respectively. peaks associated with Fe3O4 at 18.02º, 29.4º, 43.3º, related (111), (220), (400), respectively phase. HRSEM image exhibited spherical-shaped structures Fe3O4/ZnO, some irregular shapes. effects contact time, dosage temperature on percentage metal were studied. Freundlich Langmuir isotherm constants correlation coefficients determined equilibrium process better described by isotherm. adsorption followed second order kinetics thermodynamic parameters showed involved spontaneous. These findings contribute advancement environmentally friendly technologies industry broader field remediation.

Antibiotics are used for the well-being of human beings and other animals. Detectable levels antibiotics can be found in pharmaceutical, municipal, animal effluents. Therefore, treatment antibiotic contaminated water is great concern. In this study, we fabricated a sustainable aminated/TEMPO cellulose nanofiber (Am/TEMPO-CNF) aerogel to remove oxytetracycline (OTC) chloramphenicol (CAP) from synthetic wastewater. The prepared was characterized using different analytical techniques such as elemental analysis, FTIR, TGA, SEM-EDS, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms. characterization confirmed presence interaction quaternary amine -[NR3]+ -COOH groups on Am/TEMPO-CNF with OTC CAP, which validates successful modification Am/TEMPO-CNF. adsorption process pollutants examined function solution pH, concentrations, reaction time, temperatures. maximum capacity 153.13 150.15 mg/g respectively. pseudo-second order (PSO-2) well fitted both confirming removal via chemisorption. Hydrogen bonding electrostatic attraction have been postulated key factors facilitating CAP according spectroscopic studies. Energetically, spontaneous endothermic pollutants. conclusion, efficient rate excellent reusability indicate strong potential adsorbent antibiotics’ removal.

The green preparation of metal oxide nanoparticles is an environmentally friendly method, which could reduce the use toxic solvents and their impact on environment. purpose this study to investigate synthesis zinc (ZnO) using extracts Hibiscus cannabinus leaves evaluate potential applications in environmental remediation. In work, ZnO were successfully prepared thoroughly characterized UV–vis, Fourier transform infrared analysis (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis, scanning (SEM) with energy dispersive x-ray (EDAX). As a result, synthesized showed good adsorption capacity for Congo red (CR), satisfactory antioxidant antibacterial activities. They exhibited removal abilities CR aqueous solutions. With conditions optimized, kinetics isotherms fitted pseudo-second-order model Langmuir model. also effectively scavenge 2-2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) 2,2′-azino-di(3-ethylbenzthiazoline sulphonate) (ABTS) radicals, appeared inhibit growth Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Based identified capacity, demonstrated be used dyeing wastewater further purification water due activity activity.
