Abstract Association between genomic variants and athletic performance has seen a high degree of controversy, as there is often conflicting data far the association with endurance, speed strength concerned. Here, findings from thorough meta-analysis 4228 articles exploring in power endurance sports are summarized, aiming to confirm or overrule genetic all types. From articles, only 107 were eligible for further analysis, including 37 different genes. these, 21 ACE gene, 29 ACTN3 gene 8 both genes, 54,382 subjects total, which 11,501 athletes 42,881 control subjects. These show that no statistically significant either sports, underlying fact it highly risky even unethical make such testing services available general public. Overall, strict regulatory monitoring should be exercised by health other legislative authorities protect public an emerging discipline still lacks necessary scientific evidence subsequent approval.

This narrative review examines the relationship between dopamine-related genetic polymorphisms, personality traits, and athletic success. Advances in sports genetics have identified specific single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) genes linked to traits crucial for performance, such as motivation, cognitive function, emotional resilience. clarifies how variations can influence predisposition through dopaminergic pathways environmental interactions. Key findings reveal associations SNPs enhanced performance various sports. For example, COMT Val158Met rs4680 BDNF Val66Met rs6265 are associated with that could benefit increased focus, stress resilience conscientiousness, especially martial arts. DRD3 rs167771 is higher agreeableness, benefiting teamwork like football. synthesis underscores multidimensional role of shaping ability advocates integrating profiling into personalized training optimize well-being. However, research gaps remain, including need standardized protocols exploring gene–environment interactions diverse populations. Future studies should focus on epigenetic factors inform tailored interventions enhance both physical psychological aspects performance. By bridging genetics, psychology, exercise science, this paves way innovative optimization strategies.

Team handball performance relies on physical and technical abilities, influenced by environmental genetic factors. Variants in ACTN3 R577X (rs1815739), BDKRB2 −9/+9 (rs5810761), AGT Met235Thr (rs699) genes are associated with athletic performance, but their relevance remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association of these polymorphisms Brazilian junior players. The included 91 male players (16.4 ± 0.7 years) 74 age-matched non-athletes. Genotypes for (R577X), (−9/+9), (M235T) were identified using PCR-based techniques. Physical tests assessed upper limb strength (medicine ball throw) lower (standing long jump). Genotypic allelic frequencies compared Chi-square tests, while data analyzed ANOVA t-tests (p ≤ 0.05). No significant differences found genotypic or between athletes controls polymorphisms. Among athletes, RR carriers displayed significantly better = 0.049, d 0.48). However, no genotype anthropometric traits. Additionally, associations parameters. This demonstrates that specific variants (R577X) gene may influence individual traits, such as upper-body strength, we limited overall performance. lack be attributed small sample size heterogeneity studied population, encouraging further research larger cohorts.
