The present study adopted network analysis approach investigate the patterns reciprocal associations between PG, defense mechanisms, and psychopathological symptoms. Participants were 1,036 adult Italian video game players (Mage = 29.94, SD 8.85; females 388) who completed self-report questionnaires. We used regularised partial correlation (EBICglasso) structure relationships among Centrality measures computed. highly influential nodes in concerned both psychological symptoms (anxiety obsessive-compulsive symptoms) mechanisms (projection autistic fantasy). Furthermore, escapism feature PG was detected as prominent bridge symptom network. Our findings suggest negative affect immature might play pivotal role withdrawal virtual world may also exacerbate Therefore, better understanding related defenses have important implications for theory clinical practice.
