<p>The occupational exposure to trauma and its potential impacts among legal professionals working in the criminal justice system is an area that has historically been neglected only gained traction recent years. Crown prosecutors, as a subset of practising lawyers New Zealand with potentially traumatic material (PTM), are arguably at heightened risk vicarious (VT) need engage emotional labour (EL). The current study qualitatively investigated prosecutors’ experiences PTM emotions their role through three key research questions: 1) What PTM? 2) sort EL do prosecutors experience, if any, courts? 3) factors personal professional lives might exacerbate or alleviate VT symptoms? Nineteen from four Solicitor firms across participated study. data was analysed using thematic analysis identify recurring themes datasets. outlined various negative symptoms they experienced work-related (VT), well different workplace both protected exacerbated such symptoms. These findings add growing body literature on which preliminarily indicated at-risk population EL, can be significant enduring.
