ABSTRACT Background Informal caregivers play a crucial role in dialysis care but may experience significant burden, potentially affecting both caregiver and patient outcomes. Research on burden health-related quality of life (HRQoL) the relation to patient-reported outcomes (PROs) is lacking. Therefore, we aimed (i) describe informal caregivers’ experienced HRQoL (ii) investigate how these are related patients’ symptoms. Methods We conducted cross-sectional study at initiation with 202 adult caregiver–dialysis dyads. Caregiver was measured Self-Perceived Pressure from Care (SPPIC) questionnaire, 12-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-12), symptom number Dialysis Symptom Index (DSI). Data were analysed using linear logistic ordinal regression. Results Around 38% moderate high burden. The narrative synthesis included 41 only 7 (17%) considering benefits. A stable average trajectory was most pattern various conditions. However, an increasing primarily observed persons dementia, while a decreasing noted discharged hospital after acute event. Only 6 (10%) which reported heterogeneity in progression separately jointly, identified distinctive within same set caregivers.
