Urban green space (UGS) is crucial in providing ecosystem services and optimizing the health of urban residents. This study aimed at identifying suitable sites for UGS development using geospatial techniques Addis Ababa City. In present study, an analytical hierarchical process with Geographic Information Systems based multi-criteria evaluation was used development. Eight parameters namely land use cover types, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, population density, soil slope, elevation, road rivers were used. Results show that about 1 km2 (0.2%) 67.4 (12.8%) are categorized as highly moderately UGS, respectively. About 247.2 (46.9%) area marginally 205.2 km2(38.9%) currently not suitable, while 6.2 km2(1.2%) permanently suitable. The support policy makers to identify importance open environmental quality life center.

Accurately assessing forest fire susceptibility (FFS) in the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) is essential for biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and community safety. Most existing studies have primarily focused on climatic topographical factors, while this research expands scope by employing a synergistic approach that integrates geographical information systems (GIS), remote sensing (RS), machine learning (ML) methodologies identifying fire-prone areas STR their vulnerability to change. To achieve this, study employed comprehensive dataset of forty-four influencing including topographic, climate-hydrologic, health, vegetation indices, radar features, anthropogenic interference, into ten ML models: neural net (nnet), AdaBag, Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBTree), Machine (GBM), Random Forest (RF), its hybrid variants with differential evolution algorithm (RF-DEA), Gravitational Based Search (RF-GBS), Grey Wolf Optimization (RF-GWO), Particle Swarm (RF-PSO), genetic (RF-GA). The revealed high FFS both northern southern portions area, nnet RF-PSO models demonstrating percentages 12.44% 12.89%, respectively. Conversely, very low zones consistently displayed scores approximately 23.41% 18.57% models. robust mapping methodology was validated impressive AUROC (>0.88) kappa coefficient (>0.62) across all validation metrics. Future (ssp245 ssp585, 2022–2100) indicated along edges STR, central zone categorized from susceptibility. Boruta analysis identified actual evapotranspiration (AET) relative humidity as key factors ignition. SHAP evaluation reinforced influence these FFS, also highlighting significant role distance road, settlement, dNBR, slope, prediction accuracy. These results emphasize critical importance proposed provide invaluable insights firefighting teams, management, planning, qualification strategies address future sustainability.

With the gradual advancement of urbanization, urban hardened roofs and pavements are increasing, rainwater cycle is being seriously damaged; sponge city construction has become an inevitable trend to address this problem. The analysis infiltration storage performance recycled brick aggregate, which highly absorbent can be used as a permeable paving material in cities, great significance. study firstly designed simulated rainfall test device, then carried out tests terms aggregate gradation, type, grade, finally analyzed its effect on void structure water mix aggregates. outcomes demonstrate that particle size concrete positively related capacity, volume rate sand close 26%. fitting result 1 h under different dosage 0.984. After rainfall, 3 times natural absorption 2.5 aggregate. This indicates strong permeability properties potential for application construction, provides reference optimal design subsequent cities.

Regarding evaluating disaster risks in Iran’s West Kurdistan area, the multi-layer perceptron (MLP) neural network was upgraded with two novel techniques: backtracking search algorithm (BSA) and biogeography-based optimization (BBO). Utilizing 16 landslide conditioning elements such as elevation (aspect), plan (curve), profile (curvature), geology, NDVI (land use), slope (degree), stream power index (SPI), topographic wetness (TWI), rainfall, sediment transport (STI), 504 landslides target variables, a large geographic database is constructed. Applying techniques mentioned above to synthesis of MLP results suggested BBO-MLP BSA-MLP ensembles. As accuracy standards, we benefit from mean absolute error, square area under receiving operating characteristic curve assess utilized models, have also designed scoring system. The MLP’s increases thanks application BBO BSA algorithms. Comparing BSA, find that former achieves higher average ranks (20, 15, 14). A further finding showed superior at maximizing MLP.

Recurring forest fires disturb ecological balance, impact socio-economic harmony, and raise global concern. This study implements multiple statistical weighted modelling approaches to identify fire susceptibility zones in Eastern India. Six models, namely, Frequency Ratio (FR), Certainty Factor (CF), Natural Risk (NRF), Bivariate (Wi Wf), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), Logistic Regression (LR) were used the study. Forest inventory (2001 2018) mapping was done using points captured by MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) sensor. Fire responsible components, topography (which has four variables), climate (5), biophysics (8) disturbance (4) as inputs approaches. Multicollinearity analysis carried out examine association remove highly-correlated variables before performing modeling. Validation of model prediction levels Area Under Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC curve-AUC) value. The results reveal that areas with west southwest orientations, moderate slope demarcate higher fire. High precipitation lower temperature but ample solar radiation increase their Mixed deciduous type radiation, NDVI, NDWI TWI values exhibits susceptibility. Model validation shows LR (with AUC = 0.809) outperforms other models To minimize risk frame proper management plans for area, satellite imageries, GIS technique, is highly recommended.

With increasing population and urbanization, the amount of municipal sewage sludge generated is huge growing rapidly. In order to minimize resource inputs pollutant emissions in disposal process, it crucial carry out an environmental impact analysis sustainability assessment different strategies based on life cycle (LCA). LCA provides a flexible framework for quantifying consumption processes determine energy treatment disposal. The aim this review compare GHG existing management options nutrient recovery. At same time, characteristics potential convert from waste valuable products were assessed. While excessive moisture content ash make unsuitable use as fuel, risk contamination with heavy metals makes less suitable organic fertilizer, material recovery during can reduce costs impacts. context current limitations reviewed, level routes is: composting > anaerobic digestion pyrolysis incineration. routes, negative could potentially be achieved by substituting fossil fuels heat electricity generation, or fertilizer substitute. development application future should at reduction harmless disposal, thereby reducing operating burdens through resources.
