Background As a severe and prolonged stressor, the COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to development or exacerbation of mental disorders. For substance use disorder, link between stress alcohol consumption is well established. However, there have been conflicting findings in context pandemic. The aim this study was characterize group high-risk consumers terms perceived potential stressors during third wave Participants procedure Adult Polish men (N = 295) from Tricity metropolitan area participated study. They were subdivided into (n 104) low-risk 191) based on their self-reported weekly consumption. A demograph-ic survey (including vaccination status), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) an original questionnaire meas-uring causes concern used. Results Overall PSS-10 results did not differ significantly (18.40, 17.50, respec-tively, p .185). percentage distribution showed lower incidence low high levels than (9.6%, 2.9% vs. 25.7%, 6.8%, .001). High-risk reported no pandemic-related worries more often (46.2% 5.2%, < .001), but at same time 67.3% them named least one stressor. also less about situation labor market (19.2% 29.3%, Limited access medical services other people’s attitudes common both groups, with showing indifference latter. Conclusions clearly impacted by factors. protective effect debatable, given prevalence medium among consumers. It appears that associated restrictions posed such significant risk for distress escalation they re-mained unrelated pattern its alteration.

Abstract Background Farming is recognized as a stressful occupation, and growing body of research shows that farmers report high levels poor mental health. In Canada, two national studies farmer health have been conducted, but an in-depth examination the from single prairie province remains unexplored. Alberta central with significantly larger farms slightly older than average, predominantly beef or grain farm operations. It essential to understand regional variations average among validate those findings ensure interventions are appropriately tailored for sub-populations. The aim our study was (a) explore types stressors, (b) assess prevalence anxiety, depression, burnout, resilience in Alberta, (c) compare Canadian normative data. Methods We conducted survey validated scales farmers. Farm stresses were assessed through new tool underwent factor analysis identify underlying dimensions stress. Descriptive statistics summarized, t tests variance used results between genders, Results Overall, 354 completed survey. Approximately 36.4% 42.7% participants reported moderate severe depression respectively. Participants higher burnout compared Women more outcomes men. Five categories identified analysis: Unexpected work disruptions, Occupational hazards, financial planning, isolation, Regulations public pressure. five stress associated outcomes. Conclusions Our Stress Survey provides way conceptualizing succinctly communicating range face. Implications community-based help manage enduring agriculture discussed.

Gender is well-recognized as a social characteristic associated with increased susceptibility to adverse outcomes in disaster contexts, cisgender women and gender sexual minorities being recognized high-risk populations. One of the most distressing gendered impacts observed across globe during disasters, including COVID-19 pandemic, an increase gender-based violence (GBV) affecting women. While body knowledge about GBV contexts has been growing since 1990s, more attention given these issues international humanitarian response settings, rather than industrialized nation contexts. The goal this systematic review was establish nature scope peer-reviewed research on disasters within Canadian context. For review, we searched EBSCOhost ProQuest databases well Google Scholar records identify journal articles addressing disaster, disaster. Of 553 initially meeting our search criteria, 25 were eligible for inclusion final review. Only nine published before pandemic. findings studies included generally consistent identified themes broader literature. This provides baseline state specific context 2023. Abstract Background Farming is a stressful occupation, and growing body of research shows that farm stressors are associated with poor mental health. To date, there few methodologically sound surveys assess stressors, none have been validated for the Canadian context. Our study aimed to: (a) investigate types experienced by farmers, (b) develop stress assessment tool test its factor structure internal consistency, (c) criterion-related validity to self-reported levels anxiety, depression, burnout, resilience among farmers. Methods We developed 20-item survey based on review literature, examining existing surveys, consulting 10 farmers agricultural industry experts. Then, convenience sample living in Alberta, Canada (Sample 1, N = 354) completed questionnaire containing four measures assessed resilience. Sample 1 was used using exploratory analysis (EFA), criterion-validity survey. Next, outside Alberta 2, 138) evaluate confirmatory (CFA). Results The results EFA revealed five underlying dimensions stressors: Unexpected work disruptions, Agricultural hazards, Farm financial planning, Isolation, Regulations public pressure. subscales accounted 61.6% variance, consistency (Cronbach’s alpha) ranged from 0.66 to.75. Subscale correlations were below 0.44, indicating evidence discriminant validity. Correlations between health outcome variables supported CFA indicated data fit model, further improved correlating one pair error terms. Conclusions Preliminary our Farmer Stress Assessment Tool (FSAT) suggests it reliable valid instrument measuring range face. Implications policy community-based interventions help manage enduring agriculture discussed.
