Objective: This study investigated the rates of workplace trauma exposure, probable post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and alcohol other drug use among Australian public safety personnel (PSP). It also identified factors associated with hazardous or harmful use. Method: Data were collected through an online survey distributed to PSP in three agencies between May October 2021. A total 539 completed survey. The included questions about demographic work-based characteristics, PTSD Results: Most participants (86.8%) had experienced at least one type traumatic event work. Probable was 39.4% respondents. Hazardous reported by 33.1% participants, while 13.3% Analyses revealed that higher numbers types significantly greater odds (ORs 1.88 1.04, respectively). Public safety personnel (PSP) work experiences necessitate diverse and frequent exposures to potentially psychologically traumatic events (PPTEs) other occupational stressors, which may explain the higher prevalence of mental health disorders suicidal ideation among PSP relative general population. Consequently, require emotional coping skills evidence-informed training navigate arduous situations. The Emotional Resilience Skills Training (ERST) is a pilot 13-week program led by peer based on robustly evidenced Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment Mental Disorders. study assessed whether PSP: perceived ERST as improving their or management stressors; applied associated knowledge skills; would recommend ESRT PSP. Data were collected using self-report survey focus groups. A total 197 (58% male) completed 72 (33% female) participated in sector-specific group assess ERST. results indicate that helpful when applied. Almost all participants expressed ongoing need knowledge, but also identified gaps during early-career stages.
